Specifically, \u201cStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Transportation Security Officers (TSOs)\u201d will \u201cpermit less invasive screening procedures for certain passengers who trigger the AIT scanner in a sensitive area.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis change will reduce pat downs for TSOs and the traveling public without compromising security and will be in effect until the new gender-neutral AIT screening technology is deployed later this year,\u201d the federal agency announced.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The TSA also bragged about the changes it made in February in \u201cidentity validation,\u201d essentially removing gender considerations \u201cwhen validating a traveler\u2019s identification at airport security checkpoints.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen travelers appear at the travel document checker podium for identity verification, gender information is irrelevant in determining that a traveler may proceed into the screening area,\u201d it noted.<\/p>\n<p>It does not end there, either. The TSA is also providing an \u201cX\u201d gender option in its TSA PreCheck program, and\u00a0enrollees will soon be able to choose their gender based on \u201cself-attestation, regardless of the gender on the person\u2019s identification documents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, biological sex, or science itself, is now\u00a0pass\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>The federal agency also touted its page devoted entirely to transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming passengers, as well as its partnerships with airlines to \u201cenhance the overall travel experience\u201d by pushing gender-neutral options:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As of March 31, 2022, two major domestic air carriers offer \u201cX\u201d and \u201cU\u201d (undisclosed) gender markers in their travel reservation systems. A third airline will offer the same later this year. Most of the remaining domestic air carriers apply gender changes upon request through their customer contact centers.
