Jim Banks (R-IN), Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no doubt about it that Joe Biden is directly responsible for our currently high gas prices and they\u2019re not going to get better,\u201d Banks told Breitbart News. The national gas price average stood at $4.225 on Thursday, although it exceeds $6.00 in some areas of California.<i><\/i><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re only going to get worse,\u201d he said, pointing to the most recent Biden budget which includes at least $43 billion in new taxes \u201cdirectly targeting energy companies,\u201d which means \u201call of us are going to pay even more in gas prices than what we do already.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Banks\u2019s remarks came on the heels of this week\u2019s RSC memo, which details how Biden is\u00a0keeping his promise to \u201cend fossil fuel.\u201d His constituents, Banks said, are upset by the price of gas, taking a hit every time the fill up their tank. However, the congressman said they understand that Biden \u201cis responsible.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A majority of Americans say the skyrocketing gas prices in President Joe Biden&#8217;s America have caused financial hardship. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fElhGcVvUH\">https:\/\/t.co\/fElhGcVvUH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1505683743062872067?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn spite of that, the Biden administration continues to play games trying to blame it on everybody else, and that\u2019s why the memo lays out very clearly that it\u2019s the Biden administration Green New Deal agenda that\u2019s sending gas prices through the roof,\u201d Banks said.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what the administration should do to lower gas prices, Banks pointed directly to the successful policies embraced by former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so simple.We had a president for four years who made us energy independent for the first time in many years under Trump. (AP Photo\/Jeff Chiu, File)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cSo Keystone Pipeline is first and foremost, the easiest solution for this president to send us back in the other direction, but on top of that, to continue drilling on federal land and then to sign off on new drilling permits and other places too like Texas and in other areas where we have opportunities that we\u2019re not taking advantage of,\u201d he said, explaining that it is \u201cjust that simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that this administration refuses to do what Donald Trump did that works so well just goes to show\u201d that their moves are intentional and that they \u201cwant Americans to suffer at the gas pumps and inflation at grocery stores and take the hit to our pocketbooks that most Americans are facing today.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A majority of Americans say Biden should prioritize increasing American energy production in the wake of continually rising gas prices, which Biden has blamed on both Russia and gas and oil companies. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CdPK7KwjAy\">https:\/\/t.co\/CdPK7KwjAy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1504280684705243137?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 17, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Indiana Republican\u2019s remarks also coincided with a Convention of States Action\/Trafalgar Group survey released Tuesday, which found that most Americans want Biden to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/29\/poll-majority-say-joe-biden-should-step-down-if-gas-prices-skyrocket-to-8\/\">step down<\/a> for mishandling U.S. energy production if gas prices hit $8 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI agree with Most Americans that this president\u2019s disastrous agenda is hurting American families,\u201d Banks said, predicting that if the election were held today, \u201cJoe Biden would lose, I believe, would lose 50 states because the American people directly tie\u201d these disasters and crises to his \u201cfailed leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of Biden\u2019s actions, from promising to end fossil fuel and the executive actions moving toward that goal, \u201cdirectly led to where we are today with approaching $5 a gallon gas,\u201d Banks added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Joe Biden and radical Green New Deal leftists \u201cwant Americans to suffer at the gas pumps,\u201d Rep.
