Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) \u201con fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The board member was identified as Sharon Gentry by one of her fellow board members, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/fox17.com\/news\/local\/school-board-member-caught-on-mic-saying-can-we-just-go-set-marsha-blackburn-on-fire\">Fox 17<\/a>. Gentry was reportedly caught on camera asking, \u201cCan we just go set Marsha Blackburn on fire?\u201d during a break at a board meeting earlier this week. The Nashville Education Board did not respond to The Daily Wire\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Blackburn condemned the comment in a statement to The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmericans are learning just how far local officials will go to silence anyone opposed to their radical transformation of our country,\u201d Blackburn said. \u201cIt\u2019s telling that the mainstream media refuses to cover any stories that do not go along with their narrative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the Biden Administration, parents voicing concerns at school board meetings are \u2018domestic terrorists,\u2019 and meanwhile a school board member has used threatening language against a U.S. Senator,\u201d she continued. \u201cBiden and the media are working overtime to attack strong conservatives and silence the millions of real Americans they represent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Davidson County Republican Party also came out with a statement condemning the comment, calling on Gentry to resign. Davidson County Republican Chairman James Garrett said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/fox17.com\/news\/local\/-his-one-takes-the-cake-gop-condemns-nashville-school-board-members-blackburn-comment-sen-marsha-blackurn-tennessee-nashville-metro-schools-mnps-sharon-gentry\">Fox 17<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>We\u2019ve seen some pretty extreme things coming from the Democrats and School Board in the last few years, but this one takes the cake. We utterly condemn this disgraceful behavior from Dr. Gentry, and she should do the right thing and resign her seat for the sake of setting an example for the school system she supposedly represents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>One thing is very clear \u2013 in Davidson County these are no longer the sensible and patriotic Democrats many of our parent\u2019s generation used to vote for. Locals will be taking note and we challenge the rest of the MNPS School Board and Democrat Party to now officially condemn Dr. Gentry\u2019s remarks, too.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Blackburn has been in the spotlight recently over a question she posed to President Joe Biden\u2019s pick to replace Justice Stephen Breyer, who announced his retirement in January. Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to fill the seat, and her confirmation hearing in the Senate began last week.<\/p>\n<p>During her time to question the nominee, Blackburn asked Jackson if the judge could define the term \u201cwoman.\u201d Jackson demurred, saying she could not provide a definition of the term because she was not a \u201cbiologist.\u201d As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/im-not-a-biologist-supreme-court-nominee-says-she-cant-define-the-word-woman\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cCan you provide a definition for the word \u2018woman\u2019?\u201d Blackburn asked.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cCan I provide a definition?\u201d Jackson repeated the question.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMmhmm, yeah,\u201d Blackburn confirmed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI can\u2019t,\u201d Jackson replied.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYou can\u2019t?\u201d Blackburn asked.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNot \u2014 in this context, I\u2019m not a biologist,\u201d Jackson laughed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSo you believe the meaning of the word \u2018woman\u2019 is so unclear and controversial that you can\u2019t give me a definition?\u201d Blackburn continued to press.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSenator, in my works a judge, what I do is I address disputes,\u201d Jackson pushed back, suggesting that she could only provide a decision based on arguments and the law. \u201cIf there is a dispute about a definition, people make arguments and I look at the law and I decide, so \u2014 I\u2019m not \u2014\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe fact that you can\u2019t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,\u201d Blackburn continued.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
