Over two-thirds of parents reported that they feel their child is \u201caddicted to screens\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Hoya Vision noted that the increased time spent glued to screens could have negative impacts on the eye health of children, such as myopia or short-sightedness.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the results of the poll, Professor Kathryn Saunders of Ulster University said: \u201cResearchers have proven a clear relationship between\u00a0being short-sighted and spending less time outdoors in\u00a0childhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe outdoors is an environment which has been\u00a0shown to delay the onset of short-sightedness, and by\u00a0getting children outside, it will remove them from being\u00a0in front of the addictive screens that parents are so concerned about.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rising Number of Children on Antidepressants Coincided with Lockdowns: Report <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/arovH7XCMP\">https:\/\/t.co\/arovH7XCMP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1408362396201140231?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The survey comes amid a wider concern over the impacts that lockdowns have had on youngsters in Britain, with the NHS reporting that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/02\/05\/cost-of-lockdown-record-number-of-children-seeking-treatment-for-severe-mental-health-issues\/\">one in six children<\/a> in England suffered from a\u00a0\u201cprobable mental disorder\u201d in 2021, compared to one in nine in 2017.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Girls\u00a0between the ages of 11 and 16-years-old faced the most impact on their mental health during the lockdowns, however, both sexes saw eating disorders double compared to 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The government healthcare provider went on to report that thirteen per cent of youngsters of the same age felt their lives were \u201cmuch worse\u201d than before the lockdowns, with\u00a024 per cent of those aged between 17 and 23 reporting the same.<\/p>\n<p>There have been longstanding concerns about the impacts of lockdowns on the mental health of children.
