On Tuesday [March 29], he took the issue with Egypt\u2019s planning and economic development minister Hala El-Said in Dubai,\u201d the newspaper revealed on March 30.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>India hopes to export 2 million metric tons of wheat to Egypt as part of an initial shipment to the country, should they finalize their tentative trade deal.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Egypt, India\u2019s government has allegedly identified \u201cat least nine new markets for Indian produce,\u201d the <em>Times of India<\/em> reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigeria, Thailand, Vietnam and Turkey are among the other nine new markets that the Centre [New Delhi] is seeking to tap,\u201d according to the publication.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The latest war between neighboring Russia and Ukraine has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/02\/experts-mideast-nations-dependent-ukraine-russia-wheat-may-face-crisis\/\">threatened<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2022\/03\/21\/report-ukraine-war-prompts-wheat-noodle-shortage-indonesia\/\">disrupt<\/a> both production of wheat in those countries and their export of the cereal to foreign nations since the conflict <a href=\"https:\/\/tass.com\/politics\/1409329\">sparked<\/a> on February 24.<\/p>\n<p>New Delhi has indicated an interest in stepping up to fill the gap left by Russia and Ukraine in the global wheat market since at least mid-March, according to an exclusive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/india\/exclusive-india-acts-seize-gap-wheat-export-market-left-by-ukraine-war-2022-03-15\/\">report<\/a> published by Reuters on March 15.<\/p>\n<p>The news agency spoke to two anonymous sources within India\u2019s federal government who said the administration of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently been \u201cpursuing deals to export wheat and take advantage of surplus stocks at home and a sharp rise in global prices.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20464940\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-168925108.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>File\/Indian labourers shift a 50-kilo sack of wheat into a truck at a local grain distribution point in the outskirts of Amritsar. (NARINDER NANU\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt sees the disruption caused by the conflict involving Russia, the world\u2019s largest wheat exporter and Ukraine, another leading supplier, as an opportunity to sell its wheat on the world market,\u201d Reuters relayed.<\/p>\n<p>India is the globe\u2019s largest producer of wheat after China. Despite the nation\u2019s surplus wheat stocks, certain factors such as \u201clogistical bottlenecks and quality concerns\u201d have prevented India from its longtime goal of selling large volumes of wheat on the world market, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>India\u2019s government began implementing a series of measures in early to mid-March to help it prepare to export greater amounts of wheat in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSteps to be implemented over about two weeks include ensuring government-approved laboratories test the quality of wheat for export, making extra rail wagons available for transport and working with port authorities to give priority to wheat exports,\u201d Reuters reported on March 15 citing its unnamed sources in New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>Should the Indian government prove successful in raising its wheat exports in the coming months, New Delhi believes the increased trade \u201ccould result in the export of 10 million tonnes of wheat after the new season harvest begins this month [March].\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The price of a loaf of bread is set to increase by 20 per cent in Britain as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine causing a global wheat shortage. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FF1uAau60L\">https:\/\/t.co\/FF1uAau60L<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1500205008297545734?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For comparison, India exported 6.12 million tonnes (metric tons) of wheat in 2021, a significant increase from 1.12 million tonnes in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s government on March 25 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2022\/03\/25\/china-claims-will-try-fill-wheat-shortage-caused-by-ukraine-russia-war\/\">announced<\/a> plans to boost its domestic wheat production in an effort to buoy global wheat supplies in the coming months. Beijing, like New Delhi, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globaltimes.cn\/page\/202203\/1256802.shtml\">anticipates<\/a> a global wheat shortage in the near future should Russia and Ukraine remain at war.<\/p>\n<p>The wheat industries of Russia and Ukraine combined account for more than <a href=\"https:\/\/multimedia.europarl.europa.eu\/fr\/webstreaming\/agri-committee-meeting_20220228-1545-COMMITTEE-AGRI\">30 percent<\/a> of the globe\u2019s wheat trade. Russia is the number one exporter of wheat globally and the third-largest producer of wheat worldwide, after India and China.
