Doug Ducey (R) signed several bills into law on Monday designed to scale back advances in radical transgender activism, as well as a 15-week abortion ban.<\/p>\n<p>One bill pertaining to transgenderism effectively bans biological males from competing in women\u2019s sports, while another bill will restrict adults from transitioning minors into a member of the opposite sex.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis legislation is common-sense and narrowly targeted to address these two specific issues \u2013 while ensuring that transgender individuals continue to receive the same dignity, respect, and kindness as every individual in our society,\u201d\u00a0Ducey <a href=\"https:\/\/azgovernor.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/sb1138_sb1165_signing_letter.pdf\">wrote<\/a> in a signing letter.<\/p>\n<p>Ducey added that the bill restricting minors from transitioning corresponds with laws already on the books that protect children from making\u00a0irreversible decisions, including buying certain products or participating in activities that can have lifelong health implications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese decisions should be made when an individual reaches adulthood,\u201d wrote Ducey. \u201cFurther, many doctors who perform these procedures on adults agree it is not within the standards of care to perform these procedures on children.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe irreversible nature of these procedures underscores why such a decision should be made as an adult, not as a child, and further supports the importance of this legislation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changing-america\/respect\/equality\/600425-arizona-governor-signs-bills-banning-gender-affirming-care\">noted<\/a> by the Hill,\u00a0the World Professional Association for Transgender Health does not recommend gender reassignment surgery until adulthood but supports \u201cother gender-affirming treatments, like puberty blockers or hormone therapies.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20250314\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/03\/GettyImages-1238631742.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas smiles after winning the 100-yard freestyle during the 2022 Ivy League Women\u2019s Swimming and Diving Championships at Blodgett Pool on February 19, 2022, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. (Photo by Kathryn Riley\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Regarding transgenders in sports, the bill allows for transgender individuals to play on school teams so long as the team has not been designated as \u201cfemale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bill strikes the right balance of respecting all students while still acknowledging that there are inherent biological distinctions that merit separate categories to ensure fairness for all,\u201d Ducey wrote.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Another bill that Ducey signed on Wednesday will also <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/state-issues\/600419-arizona-governor-signs-ban-on-abortions-after-15-weeks\">outlaw<\/a> abortion after 15 weeks\u00a0of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Arizona, we know there is immeasurable value in every life \u2013 including preborn life,\u201d Ducey said. \u201cI believe it is each state\u2019s responsibility to protect them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis very issue is pending before the United States Supreme Court now in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization. It has been said that a society should be judged by the way they care for the vulnerable among us. In Arizona, we will continue to protect life to the greatest extent possible,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In early February, South Dakota Gov. Kristi\u00a0Noem\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/south-dakota-gov-kristi-noem-signs-transgender-athlete-ban\/\">signed<\/a>\u00a0a bill\u00a0restricting biological males from competing in women\u2019s sports up through college. Speaking with Fox News, she said the law is about \u201cleveling the playing field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true that your girls will have a level playing field,\u201d\u00a0she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2022\/02\/04\/noem-transgender-ban-about-leveling-the-playing-field\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cThey will get the chance to compete only against other biological females, as reflected on their birth certificate because we want them to have a chance to be successful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This month, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2022\/03\/03\/iowa-gov-kim-reynolds-signs-bill-protecting-girls-sports-from-transgender-athletes\/\">signed<\/a> a bill\u00a0that will require athletes to compete on school, college, and university sports teams corresponding to their biological sex.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arizona Gov.
