In fact, they\u2019ve treated Jackson worse.\u201d The Democratic chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Richard Durbin, wore his poker face during the hearings as he lamented the supposed personal attacks on the nominee and her family.<\/p>\n<p>Please. The hearings that we watched showed Republicans asking questions about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/24\/washington-post-says-asking-kbj-questions-about-her-legal-rulings-is-worse-than-falsely-accusing-kavanaugh-of-rape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jackson\u2019s record<\/a>\u00a0as an attorney and judge. How dare they! Actual personal comments they made about Jackson and her family were kind and gracious.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Democrats are hoping the American people, like Judge Jackson, were not paying attention during the Kavanaugh hearings or thought the chaos surrounding his confirmation was only a reaction to the salacious charges brought against him late in the nomination process.\u00a0Here\u00a0is a list of 15 spectacles during the Kavanaugh nomination that happened\u00a0<em>before\u00a0<\/em>the Blasey Ford allegations became public and that were nowhere to be seen during the Jackson nomination:<\/p>\n<p>1. Supporters of Kavanaugh being called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/cory-booker-anyone-not-opposing-kavanaugh-nomination-is-complicit-in-evil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201ccomplicit in evil\u201d<\/a>\u00a0by Sen. Cory Booker soon after he was nominated.<\/p>\n<p>2. ProPublica trying to concoct a \u201cscandal\u201d about Kavanaugh\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/propublicas-appeal-for-dirt-on-brett-kavanaughs-baseball-outings-called-desperate-and-hilarious\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">baseball tickets<\/a>\u00a0with a far-ranging search for information about his habits at baseball games.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0Teen Vogue<em>\u00a0<\/em>columnist Lauren Duca saying during a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/live\/?ref=watch_permalink&#038;v=272437933362642\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rise Up for\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u201d<\/a>\u00a0speaking tour that \u201ctextualist originalist\u201d is just code for \u201cwhite supremacist\u00a0patriarchy.\u201d\u00a0That might be news to Judge Jackson, who described her own approach to legal interpretation in terms of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/03\/22\/opinions\/jackson-hearing-conservative-win-ideological-war-toobin\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">text and original meaning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>4. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/08\/10\/reader-center\/bett-kavanaugh-wife-foia-request.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press sending public information requests<\/a>\u00a0to the town of Chevy Chase, where Kavanaugh\u2019s wife Ashley worked, seeking her emails on the Chevy Chase township board.<\/p>\n<p>5. Democratic senators actually\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2018\/07\/24\/632019327\/why-senate-democrats-are-refusing-to-meet-with-supreme-court-nominee-brett-kavan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refusing to meet<\/a>\u00a0with Kavanaugh until over a month after his nomination was\u00a0announced.\u00a0Minority Leader Mitch McConnell\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.republicanleader.senate.gov\/newsroom\/remarks\/mcconnell-remarks-on-meeting-with-judge-jackson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">met with Jackson<\/a>\u00a0less than a week after she was nominated.<\/p>\n<p>6. Then Minority Leader Chuck Schumer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.democrats.senate.gov\/es\/sala-de-prensa\/schumer-floor-remarks-on-republican-efforts-to-block-access-to-judge-kavanaughs-full-record-democrats-request-to-chairman-grassley-for-all-kavanaugh-documents-in-the-judiciary-committees-possession-and-the-trump-administrations-decision-to-revoke-former-cia-director-john-brennans-security-clearance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claiming<\/a>\u00a0that keeping any documents from Kavanaugh\u2019s time working at the White House confidential for only Judiciary\u00a0Committee members viewing them was \u201cbogus.\u201d\u00a0Democrats this time around\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/mar\/21\/gop-say-democrats-hiding-documents-ketanji-brown-j\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refused<\/a>\u00a0to even seek documents from Jackson\u2019s time serving on the U.S. Sentencing Commission, let alone to delay the process to allow their production.<\/p>\n<p>7. Protesters conveying their extreme disrespect for the nominee by dressing like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/handmaids-tale-protesters-target-kavanaugh\/story?id=57592706\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">handmaids<\/a>\u00a0in red gowns and white bonnets \u2014 and others including a man dressed as a giant condom who were no better.<\/p>\n<p>8. Interruptions \u2014 by senators themselves \u2014 from the moment the hearing opened as part of an orchestrated plan to delegitimize the hearings, starting with Sen. Kamala Harris. It took nearly an hour and a half for Chairman Chuck Grassley to finish his ten-minute statement. By the first lunch break, there had been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/brett-kavanaugh-vows-to-keep-an-open-mind-in-every-case-after-chaotic-confirmation-hearing-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">63 interruptions<\/a>.\u00a0Sen. Durbin\u2019s ten-minute opening remarks took a whopping ten minutes, with zero interruptions.<\/p>\n<p>9. Protesters funded by Planned Parenthood and other dark-money groups standing up and shouting and getting dragged out by police every few minutes, with arrests totaling\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2018\/09\/08\/645497667\/the-resistance-at-the-kavanaugh-hearings-more-than-200-arrests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">over 200<\/a>\u00a0by the end.<\/p>\n<p>10. An online furor accusing former White House staffer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5386860\/zina-gelman-bash-white-power-symbol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zina Bash<\/a>\u00a0of trying to transmit a \u201cwhite power\u201d symbol when her hand appeared to make the \u201cOK\u201d sign.<\/p>\n<p>11. Sen. Patrick Leahy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/brett-kavanaugh-misled-the-senate-under-oath-i-cannot-support-his-nomination\/2018\/09\/13\/ea75c740-b77d-11e8-b79f-f6e31e555258_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accusing Kavanaugh of perjury<\/a>\u00a0by performing ridiculous linguistic gymnastics.<\/p>\n<p>12. Harris kicking off her presidential campaign by trying to trap Kavanaugh with Perry Mason\u2013like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/08\/12\/kamala-harris-was-ringleader-in-brett-kavanaugh-character-assassination-attempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">questions<\/a>\u00a0about whether he had discussions with employees of Kasowitz, Benson, and Torres. Whatever she thought she was driving at, her questions were barely intelligible, and it turned out there was no there, there.<\/p>\n<p>13. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse holding up signs touting his conspiracy theories about conservative groups and trying to probe any connection between Kavanaugh and the Federalist Society, which fell flat\u00a0given the fact that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=HpGMDwAAQBAJ&#038;pg=PT253&#038;dq=sheldon+whitehouse+108+%22justice+on+trial%22&#038;hl=en&#038;newbks=1&#038;newbks_redir=0&#038;sa=X&#038;ved=2ahUKEwi_rruXnuD2AhVhqXIEHQjRB_0Q6AF6BAgIEAI#v=onepage&#038;q=sheldon%20whitehouse%20108%20%22justice%20on%20trial%22&#038;f=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">every sitting Supreme Court justice<\/a>, and even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/cortneyobrien\/2018\/09\/05\/sen-whitehouse-condemns-federalist-societytheres-just-one-problem-n2516136\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senator Whitehouse himself<\/a>, had at some point spoken at Federalist Society events.<\/p>\n<p>14.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JCNSeverino\/status\/1037742375186124804?s=20&#038;t=oOqDtgoTzHKfCN0uG4Ieag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Booker\u2019s stunt<\/a>\u00a0trying to break rules to\u00a0leak confidential documents that would make him a martyr to (as it turned out) non-existent Republican pushback on his disclosure requests. Booker compared himself to Spartacus, and the materials he released simply showed Kavanaugh giving reasonable advice in support of positions Booker himself believed in.<\/p>\n<p>15.
