Pat Toomey (R-PA) weighed in on the Biden administration\u2019s\u00a0new proposals over corporate stock buyback restrictions and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/03\/27\/report-white-house-propose-billionaire-minimum-income-tax\/\">billionaire minimum income tax<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Toomey argued that there is a socialist, left-wing of the Democratic Party that \u201cdoesn\u2019t like capitalism.\u201d He lamented the \u201cvilification\u201d of stock buybacks, calling it \u201ccompletely ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201c[W]hen I look at the proposals, the huge tax increase on income, on corporate income, on this so-called billionaires tax, this stock buyback, this looks to me like, first of all, it\u2019s not going to happen,\u201d Toomey declared. \u201cThis is a big gesture to the radical left, right, the wing of the Democrats that don\u2019t like capitalism \u2014 actually, probably a third consider themselves socialists in the first place. This is a terrible policy, terrible ideas. A stock buyback is simply the economically rational, sensible thing to do, and the management of a company decides they can\u2019t productively deploy marginal capital. And they\u2019ve got an obligation to return it to the people who own the company.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAnd the beauty of the mechanism is you as an investor can decide whether you want to sell or not. That\u2019s exactly what should happen in a free society and a free market economy.
