One school board member asked if they could set a senator on the Judiciary Committee on fire.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly a minute into the school board meeting\u2019s YouTube <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yxvjTcxf8gE\">stream<\/a>, you can hear one\u00a0unidentified school board member ask if the others have been watching Jackson\u2019s Supreme Court hearing. One board\u00a0member said, \u201cI love her,\u201d apparently speaking about Biden\u2019s nominee, while a third morbidly asked,\u00a0\u201cCan we just go set [Sen.] Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) on fire?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetroSchools?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MetroSchools<\/a> School Board were caught on a hot-mic during a board meeting wishing that they could &#8220;just go set Marsha Blackburn on fire.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Listen for yourself \ud83d\udc47 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LyJ2YLHVso\">pic.twitter.com\/LyJ2YLHVso<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Townhall.com (@townhallcom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/townhallcom\/status\/1507446708074123297?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The board meeting appears to have taken place last Wednesday, the same day Blackburn pressed\u00a0Jackson on \u201cif [Jackson] could provide a definition to the word \u2018woman.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson refused to define the term \u201cwoman,\u201d saying she was not a \u201cbiologist,\u201d though the definition of gender is a key legal issue in debates over transgenderism.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">SEN. BLACKBURN: &#8220;Can you provide a definition of the word &#8216;woman&#8217;?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>JACKSON: &#8220;No, I can&#8217;t&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>BLACKBURN: &#8220;You can&#8217;t?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>JACKSON: &#8220;I&#8217;m not a biologist&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/i7Rg83z5Y4\">pic.twitter.com\/i7Rg83z5Y4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1506451123674173443?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 23, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, as Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/23\/first-woman-black-supreme-court-nominee-wont-define-woman\/\">noted<\/a> before, Jackson did not hesitate to discuss being a \u201cwoman\u201d when asked similar questions by Democrats senators.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) asked Jackson about the historical significance of being a woman:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Judge Jackson, if confirmed, you would become the sixth woman to ever serve on the Supreme Court. You would join Justices [Sonia] Sotomayor, [Elena] Kagan, and [Amy Coney] Barrett on the bench. This would be the nearest we have ever come to gender equity on the Supreme Court. There would be four women on a court with nine justices. \u2026 What are your thoughts on what it means for our country to have women serve in meaningful numbers on the federal bench, and in particular, what would it mean to have four women serving on the Supreme Court for the first time in history?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In Jackson\u2019s response, she acknowledged that she is a woman and would be the first black woman to sit on the Supreme Court:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I think it\u2019s extremely meaningful. \u2026 Since I was nominated to this position, I have received so many letters and photos from little girls around the country who tell me that they are so excited for this opportunity and that they thought about the law in new ways because I am a woman, because I am a black woman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In fact, when President Joe Biden was campaigning in 2020, he\u00a0specifically promised to nominate a\u00a0black woman to the\u00a0Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p><i>Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
