and the Biden Administration has kept it in place.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It allows the Border Patrol to immediately remove aliens encountered at the border.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Since March 2020, the federal government has executed 1.72 <a href=\"https:\/\/cronkitenews.azpbs.org\/2022\/03\/21\/protests-demand-end-to-horrible-rule-used-to-expel-1-7-million-migrants\/\"><span>million<\/span><\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>expulsions of illegal aliens under Title 42.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The pace of Title 42 removals increased during the Biden Administration.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In its first full 13 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/nationwide-encounters?ftag=MSF0951a18\"><span>months<\/span><\/a> in office, the Biden Administration expelled 1,256,748 illegal aliens\u2014or about 97,000 per month.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s the only effective immigration enforcement tool that the Biden Administration has left in place since taking office.<\/p>\n<p>It has allowed the Border Patrol to at least do something meaningful to respond to the invasion at our southern border.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s only half of the immigration enforcement equation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The other half is interior enforcement to remove illegal aliens who are already in the country, which the Biden Administration has all but destroyed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In January, February, and September of 2021, the Biden Administration issued three policy memoranda that effectively prevent ICE officers from detaining or removing illegal aliens\u2014even though federal law mandates that those aliens <i>must<\/i> be detained and removed.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The consequences of the new Biden non-enforcement policy were devastating.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>At the beginning of 2022, many people were wondering why the Biden Administration had not yet issued its FY 2021 ICE Annual Report, which provides total deportation numbers for the fiscal year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We knew that the lax interior enforcement had encouraged a surge of illegal immigration at the border with over 200,000 apprehensions per month at the border during the Summer of 2021.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The calendar year 2021 saw approximately 1.9 million apprehensions, more than <a href=\"https:\/\/clarion.causeaction.com\/2022\/01\/25\/border-apprehensions-in-2021-surged-to-nearly-1-9-million-up-from-479k-in-2020\/#:~:text=Border%2520Patrol%2520agents%2520ended%2520the%2520year%2520with%2520another,to%2520data%2520from%2520Customs%2520and%2520Border%2520Protection%2520%2528CBP%2529.\"><span>triple<\/span><\/a> the previous year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But just how bad were the interior enforcement numbers?<\/p>\n<p>Finally, three months late, ICE issued the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/doclib\/eoy\/iceAnnualReportFY2021.pdf\"><span>report<\/span><\/a> on March 11, 2022.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>And it became clear why the Biden Administration was so reluctant to release it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The numbers were embarrassingly low.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In FY 2021, ICE removed only 59,011 noncitizens.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That number was down from 185,884 in FY 2020.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In other words, in FY 2021 ICE removed only 32% of the number of aliens it removed in FY 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s immigration policy is like playing defense in a football game without a defensive backfield\u2014no safeties, no defensive backs, and no linebackers either.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In such a game, all the offense has to do is get past the defensive line (the Border Patrol); and they score a touchdown every play.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Once illegal aliens get a few miles into the United States and past the outmanned Border Patrol, their probability of ever being deported is nearly zero.<\/p>\n<p>And now the Biden Administration is considering removing half of the defensive line too.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If Title 42 expulsions are ended, the Border Patrol will become little more than a processing agency for incoming illegal aliens.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The losers in this game will be the American people and American sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p><i>Kris W.
