Both the Senate and the House submitted subpar maps before DeSantis took matters into his hands and submitted to the legislature his own map, one that establishment Republicans have opposed, along with Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown why Sprowls and Simpson, two establishment Republicans who have praised the Bush family, would buck a map that gives Republicans an advantage in November. While opposition from Democrats is expected, it is unusual that Republican legislators would take the side of Democrats. Such is apparently the political makeup of the swamp of Tallahassee.<\/p>\n<div class=\"byline-images byline-images-total--1\">DeSantis\u2019s map would\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AnthonySabatini\/status\/1482914214574538754?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1482914214574538754%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost-new.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">terminate<\/a>\u00a0a Democrat district near Jacksonville by splitting it in two. It would also create a more favorable district near Tampa Bay and\u00a0Pinellas County, an area that is turning red. But Sprowls and Simpson apparently oppose such a map. Instead, they would seemingly prefer to go to battle with a governor who has a very high approval rating.<\/div>\n<div class=\"byline-images byline-images-total--1\">\n<p>Overall, Sprowls and Simpson join other establishment Republicans throughout the nation who have struggled to maintain an aggressive posture during the once-every-ten-years process to redraw House maps. Such has been the case in\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?client=internal-element-cse&#038;cx=partner-pub-9229289037503472:6795176714&#038;q=https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/10\/missouri-governor-prepping-to-cave-to-pelosi-7-1-gop-redistricted-map-in-doubt\/&#038;sa=U&#038;ved=2ahUKEwiug7WL6Ov2AhXhYd8KHbrICSQQFnoECAcQAg&#038;usg=AOvVaw3fKFxdyGhvHRt28_brn1e9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Missouri<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/midterm-election\/2022\/02\/08\/kansas-four-senate-republicans-side-with-democrat-governor-on-redistricting-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/05\/republican-lawsuit-accuses-ny-democrats-of-gerrymandering-maps-as-15-assembly-republicans-legitimized-brazen-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/05\/republicans-defeated-eric-holders-nationwide-gerrymandering-plot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alabama<\/a>,\u00a0Pennsylvania, and other states that have gone to court and lost against the\u00a0Democrat <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/05\/republicans-defeated-eric-holders-nationwide-gerrymandering-plot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">redistricting machine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"byline-images byline-images-total--1\">\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">According to David Wasserman, senior editor of the Cook Political Report, Democrats have\u00a0taken\u00a0a two- to three-seat advantage in the redistricting battle where Republicans were expected to dominate.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment media has even taken notice of how \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/2021\/12\/democrats-are-doing-weirdly-well-in-redistricting.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">weirdly well<\/a>\u201d Democrats are performing in nationwide redistricting battles. \u201c[A]ccording to at least one analyst, there is actually an outside chance that the final map will be tilted, ever so slightly, in the\u00a0<em>Democrats\u2019<\/em>\u00a0favor,\u201d the\u00a0<em>New York Magazine\u00a0<\/em>reported in December.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans still appear to have the momentum to retake the House and potentially the Senate. Republicans need to net three seats in the House and one seat in the Senate to reclaim both branches of government. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpunchbowl.news%2Farchive%2F3-24-22-punchbowl-news-pm%2F&#038;data=04%7C01%7CCole.Smith%40gop.com%7C6352ee1745a64129bde908da0ded6592%7C4a082c81950a410d9618462a9c74d6ae%7C1%7C0%7C637837610524752413%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&#038;sdata=6d3V8wVHNDihIhW%2FD1fkbY2%2FRoL%2FVurKxA03vmBfV4A%3D&#038;reserved=0\">told<\/a> Punchbowl News last week that if Republicans win 33 seats, it will be the biggest political shift in 90 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we win 18 seats, that\u2019s equal to 1994.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>If we win 33 seats, that could be the largest in like 90 some years,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ll make this one prediction \u2014 we\u2019re going to win the majority. And it\u2019s not going to be a five seat majority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Republicans are able to regain control of the legislative branch, investigations will likely occur. Those may include probes into Hunter Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the southern border invasion, and the origins of the pandemic.
