Joe Manchin spoke out against several Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans\u2019 handling of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson\u2019s Supreme Court nomination hearings during a brief interview on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was disgraceful, it really was, what I saw. And I met with her and I read all the transcripts. I listened to basically the hearings and it just was embarrassing,\u201d the moderate told CNN\u2019s Manu Raju. \u201cIt\u2019s not who we are. It\u2019s not what we were sent here to do, to attack other people and just try to tear them down. I won\u2019t be part of that. I think she\u2019s extremely well qualified and I think she\u2019ll be an exemplary judge.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Sen. Joe Manchin to me this AM on GOP criticism that Judge Jackson is soft on crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was disgraceful. It really was what I saw. .. It was embarrassing. It\u2019s not who we are. Josh <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/17\/alarming-pattern-josh-hawley-supreme-court-nominee-ketanji-brown-jackson-record-child-porn\/\">Hawley<\/a> of Missouri, Ted <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/22\/ted-cruz-whiteboard-ketanji-brown-jackson-child-pornography-sentencing\/\">Cruz<\/a> of Texas and Tom Cotton of Arkansas, all of whom pursued aggressive lines of questioning related to Jackson\u2019s handling of child pornography offenders. The senators argued that Jackson repeatedly under-sentenced child pornography convicts were in contravention of federal sentencing guidelines. Democrats and some conservative commentators <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/21\/andrew-mccarthy-josh-hawley-criticism-scotus-nominee\/\">pushed<\/a> back on the characterization, with committee chairman Dick Durbin <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/jackson-confirmation-hearing-democrats-push-back-on-gop-sen-hawleys-smear-173910444.html\">quoting<\/a> a National Review column from former prosecutor Andrew McCarthy during the hearings.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin previously cast doubt on the Republicans\u2019 soft on child pornography allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s Hawley, right? Take that for what it\u2019s worth,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/03\/23\/ketanji-brown-jackson-supreme-court-confirmation-hearing-00019802\">told<\/a> Politico.<\/p>\n<p>The most conservative Democrat, Manchin has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/25\/joe-manchin-will-support-ketanji-brown-jackson\/\">pledged<\/a> to support Jackson\u2019s nomination. Although he has opposed several high-profile cabinet nominees, Manchin has voted to support each of President Joe Biden\u2019s judicial nominees. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/14\/joe-manchin-blocks-sarah-bloom-raskin-federal-reserve\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Manchin Sinks Federal Reserve Nominee Who Drew Republican Boycott)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer wide array of experiences in varying sectors of our judicial system have provided Judge Jackson a unique perspective that will serve her well on our nation\u2019s highest court.
