These are people who have undergone solid organ transplantation, or who are living with conditions that are considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromise.<\/li>\n<li>A second booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered at least 4 months after the first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine to individuals 18 years of age and older with the same certain kinds of immunocompromise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Peter Marks, M.D., Ph.D., director of the FDA\u2019s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said that \u201ccurrent evidence\u201d points to \u2018some waning of protection over time against serious outcomes from COVID-19 in older and immunocompromised individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBased on an analysis of emerging data, a second booster dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine could help increase protection levels for these higher-risk individuals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Anthony Fauci is mystified that the booster shot rate in the U.S. is lagging, telling reporters Wednesday, \u201cI don\u2019t have an easy explanation for that.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ITV6bHb2jF\">https:\/\/t.co\/ITV6bHb2jF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1489356887556505618?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, the data show that an initial booster dose is critical in helping to protect all adults from the potentially severe outcomes of COVID-19. So, those who have not received their initial booster dose are strongly encouraged to do so,\u201d Marks added.<\/p>\n<p>While the move does not authorize the second booster (or fourth jab) for everyone, the FDA said it will \u201ccontinue to evaluate data and information as it becomes available when considering the potential use of a second booster dose in other age groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest survey from <em>TheEconomist<\/em>\/YouGov,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>70 percent of individuals say they have <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/joqdn4nhky\/econToplines.pdf\"><span>received<\/span><\/a> at lest one coronavirus jab, compared to 30 percent who have not.
