Tim Ryan\u2019s new campaign ad, titled \u201cOne Word,\u201d echoes the rhetoric of former President Donald Trump on U.S. competition with China.<\/p>\n<p>The ad, Ryan\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/600150-tim-ryan-launches-33-million-ad-buy\">first<\/a> of the 2022 election cycle, featured Tuesday the candidate calling out \u201cWashington\u201d for \u201cwasting our time on stupid fights\u201d while \u201cChina is out-manufacturing us left and right.\u201d Ryan\u2019s campaign spent $3.3 million buying time for the ad, which will run through the May 3 Democratic primary for Ohio\u2019s open Senate seat to May 17. Facing off against former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau employee Morgan Harper and tech executive Traci Johnson, Ryan is the favorite to win the Democratic nomination. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/31\/hillary-clinton-campaign-fundraiser-tim-ryan-ohio\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Hillary Clinton Returns To Politics With $2,900 Minimum Donation Fundraiser For Dem Senate Candidate)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It\u2019s us vs. China.<\/p>\n<p>China is out-manufacturing us left and right and it\u2019s time we fight back. It\u2019s us versus them. Capitalism versus communism. I\u2019m not backing down. Are you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan\u2019s ad signals that the Senate race will feature bipartisan agreement on China. All major Republican candidates have expressed opposition to trade with China, and top two candidates Mike Gibbons and Josh Mandel nearly came to blows at a March 18 debate over Mandel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/19\/watch-what-happens-ohio-gop-senate-candidate-opponent-face-threats-debate\/\">accusation<\/a> that Gibbons traded Chinese petroleum stock. Republican State Sen. Matt Dolan, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/597439-gibbons-mandel-lead-ohio-gop-senate-primary-field-poll\">polling<\/a> in fifth place, released an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dolan4ohio\/status\/1483426454935425024\">ad<\/a> in January claiming that the U.S. is in a \u201ccold war\u201d with China, which he said would be his \u201cpriority in the U.S. Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his short-lived presidential run, Ryan <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/07\/30\/2020-dems-china-foreign-policy-debate\/\">said<\/a> that \u201cPresident Trump was onto something when he talked about China,\u201d adding that the country \u201chas been abusing the economic system for a long time.\u201d He also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/05\/05\/biden-walk-back-china-not-competition-remarks\/\">described<\/a> Joe Biden as \u201cstunningly out of touch\u201d for claiming that China was \u201cnot competition\u201d for the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign and allies ran several ads during the 202o election cycle addressing U.S. policy towards China. In <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/parscale\/status\/1258416273823805443?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1258416273823805443%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthehill.com%2Fhomenews%2Fcampaign%2F496591-trump-campaign-releases-new-ad-attacking-biden-on-china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one<\/a>, the campaign claimed that Joe Biden would \u201cstand up for China,\u201d while noting Hunter Biden\u2019s business <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/04\/hunter-biden-remains-tied-bhr-partners\/\">dealings<\/a> with a Chinese private equity firm. Another <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/04\/16\/trump-super-pac-key-states-blasting-biden-soft-china\/\">ad<\/a>, run by the Super PAC America First Action, claimed that \u201cto stop China, you have to stop Joe Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic Ohio Rep.
