Ron DeSantis (R) signed into law the Parental Rights in Education Act on Monday, which expands parents\u2019 oversight of their children\u2019s education and prohibits the teaching of gender identity and sexual orientation from kindergarten through third grade.<\/p>\n<p>The bill, which does not say the word \u201cgay,\u201d was misrepresented by establishment media, Hollywood, and other leftists as the \u201cdon\u2019t say gay\u201d bill.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn Florida, we not only know that parents have a right to be involved, we insist that parents have a right to be involved,\u201d DeSantis said at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>The Sunshine State governor defended the bill against leftist critics, saying that many had likely not even read the bill and were promoting \u201cfake narratives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey support sexualizing kids in kindergarten, they support injecting woke gender ideology into second-grade classrooms, they support enabling schools to \u2018transition\u2019 students to a \u2018different gender\u2019 without the knowledge of the parent, much less without the parent\u2019s consent,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>One story highlighted at the press conference was that of Jeffrey and January Littlejohn whose daughter was being secretly \u201ctransitioned\u201d into a male gender identity by their Tallahassee school district \u2014 something the new law prohibits. The Littlejohns are currently suing the school district.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The bill I signed today protects Florida parents like January Littlejohn. School officials manipulated her daughter to \u201ctransition,\u201d calling her a male name &#038; pronouns without January\u2019s knowledge or consent.
