Ron DeSantis (R) officially signed the bill into law.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Monday, Disney said \u201cour goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts.\u201d It also claimed that the law jeopardizes the \u201crights and safety\u201d of its LGBTQ employees, when in fact the law only applies to classroom settings for kids in kindergarten through third grade.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFlorida\u2019s HB 1557, also known as the \u2018Don\u2019t Say Gay\u2019 bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law,\u201d Disney\u2019s statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. Chapek had initially declined to get Disney involved in the political warfare surrounding the bill but folded following threats of employee walkouts.<\/p>\n<p>Those walkouts happened anyway, along with further demands for political action from Disney employees.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. DeSantis signed the bill into law Monday at a ceremony at\u00a0Classical Preparatory School in Spring Hill, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the last couple of years really reveal to parents that they are being ignored increasingly across education,\u201d DeSantis said, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/511939-gov-desantis-signs-bill-to-restrict-topics-of-sexual-orientation-and-gender-identity-in-elementary-schools\/\">report<\/a> from Florida Politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen curriculum embedded for very, very young children, classroom materials about sexuality and woke gender ideology.
