Ted Cruz (R-TX)\u00a0that Critical Race Theory (CRT) is taught at the\u00a0National Association of Independent Schools <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/09\/exclusive-footage-private-schools-nation-wide-implementing-race-essentialist-curricula-trained-by-black-panther\/\">(NAIS<\/a>)-affiliated GDS\u00a0during\u00a0last week\u2019s\u00a0Senate confirmation hearing, the school demands that all parents sign a form called \u201cNew Enrollment Contract Clause,\u201d which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1zUyg7QtFFyU4LbmdsaJy857JVzaCnW0UNR-r8tPfIjI\/edit\">states<\/a>\u00a0the school has \u201cmade a commitment to work actively against individual and systemic racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reviewed by Breitbart News, the top of the form reads in full:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Parents acknowledge and understand that GDS is an institution that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, and that has made a commitment to work actively against individual and systemic racism, hatred, oppression, and bigotry of any kind. By signing this document, parents and students agree to join in the school\u2019s commitment and to engage in actions and efforts in furtherance of these values and commitments within the GDS community.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The form also gives the parents resources to root out \u201csystematic racism\u201d and advance racial equity. \u201cBelow, please find a number of resources to consider as you discuss race and actively work against racism with your child(ren),\u201d the form states before providing specific links to resources. Some of the school\u2019s recommended\u00a0resources:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Moreover, Jackson, in her role on the board, <a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/podium\/push\/default.aspx?i=513581\">signed<\/a> a letter to parents of students at GDS that requires them to sign an enrollment contract acknowledging and understanding that the school is committed to working against systemic racism.<\/p>\n<p>The enrollment contract\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/podium\/push\/default.aspx?i=513581\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">states<\/a>\u00a0\u201c[t]he entire Board of Trustees\u201d wrote this letter \u201cwith enthusiasm and conviction\u201d to require GDS families to commit to the enrollment contract. Below are some of the highlights from the new enrollment contract, according to a person familiar with GDS to whom Breitbart News granted anonymity to protect this person\u2019s ability to speak freely:<\/p>\n<p>From Document 02 \u2013 \u201c13 tips on how to talk to children about diversity and difference\u201d:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Page 2: \u201cTalk about diversity in the same way you would talk about safety\u2026 \u2018If you don\u2019t acknowledge differences, you fail to prepare your child to live in a multiethnic society.\u2019 That adage is true for gender identity, disability, Indigenous People and transphobia.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From Document 04 \u2013 \u201cTalking to young children about racial bias\u201d:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Page 1: \u201cChildren learn about racial differences and racial bias from an early age\u2026 The process of learning racial bias is a lot like learning a new language\u2026 As early as 6 months, a baby\u2019s brain can notice race-based differences. By ages 2 to 4, children can internalize racial bias.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From Document 05 \u2013 Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) Guide:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Page 10: \u201cGoodness has a First Amendment right, too. We urge you to denounce hate groups and hate crimes and to spread the truth about hate\u2019s threat to a pluralistic society. An informed and unified community is the best defense against hate.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SPLC\u2019s website, which GDS cites, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.splcenter.org\/fighting-hate\/extremist-files\/groups\">includes<\/a> traditional family principles and a Christian world view as the type of \u201chate\u201d that should be canceled. SPLC\u2019s website also lists organizations like the Alliance Defending Freedom, Family Research Council, and Pacific Justice Institute as \u201chate groups,\u201d giving them the same designation as the KKK.<\/p>\n<p>What is more,\u00a0the\u00a0GDS \u201cFamily &#038; Student Handbook\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/ftpimages\/416\/download\/download_6112611.pdf?_=1638537978476\">shows<\/a> just how involved Jackson is in teaching CRT at GDC. Below are some excerpts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/ftpimages\/416\/download\/download_6112611.pdf?_=1638537978476\">Page 8<\/a>: \u201cThe GDS Board of Trustees governs the affairs of the School in close partnership with the Head of School and senior leadership, helping to ensure that GDS operates in a financially sound manner and adheres to the values implied and explicit in its mission statement.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/ftpimages\/416\/download\/download_6112611.pdf?_=1638537978476\">Page 9<\/a>: \u201cThe majority of Board members are current GDS parents elected by the parent body. In accordance with the bylaws and spirit of Georgetown Day School, parents elect members of the Board of Trustees after receiving recommendations from a Nominating Committee. In its deliberations, the Committee seeks candidates who are committed to sustaining the School\u2019s core values and mission and who can contribute relevant professional expertise and leadership as well as the substantial time commitment required to attend full Board and committee meetings regularly.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/ftpimages\/416\/download\/download_6112611.pdf?_=1638537978476\">Page 90<\/a>: \u201cGDS may dismiss a student whose parent, guardian, family member or other adult involved with the student fails to comply with policies or procedures of the School\u2026 To assist in creating the most effective relationship, the School expects that parents will observe the following guidelines\u2026 Share in the School\u2019s vision, support the mission of the School\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The newly obtained documents and information acquired by Breitbart News fly in the face of what Jackson told Cruz during his line of committee questioning at Jackson\u2019s confirmation hearings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs critical race theory taught in schools? Is it taught in kindergarten through twelfth [grade]?\u201d Cruz questioned\u00a0Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know.
