Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News provided a brief biography and explanation for how Hawkins came to join the Foo Fighters:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Hawkins was Alanis Morrissette\u2019s touring drummer when he joined Foo Fighters in 1997. He played on the band\u2019s biggest albums including \u201cOne by One\u201d and \u201cOn Your Honor,\u201d and on hit singles including \u201cMy Hero\u201d and \u201cBest of You.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>Born Oliver Taylor Hawkins in Fort Worth Texas in 1972, Hawkins was raised in Laguna Beach, California. He played in the small Southern California band Sylvia before landing his first major gig as a drummer for Canadian singer Sass Jordan.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> When he spent two years in the mid-1990s drumming for Morrissette, he was inspired primarily by the playing of Jane\u2019s Addiction\u2019s Stephen Perkins.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The outlet also noted that Hawkins was the second-most recognizable member of the band behind founder and frontman Dave Grohl. The two appeared in interviews together and featured prominently in the band\u2019s videos.
