It seems like these goody bags become more over-the-top extravagant each year, and the 2022 Academy Award version is no exception.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/03\/27\/whats-inside-the-nearly-140000-dollar-gift-bag-given-to-top-oscar-nominees.html\"><span>CNBC<\/span><\/a><span>, the Los Angeles-based marketing company Distinctive Assets was put in charge of distributing the coveted \u201cEverybody Wins\u201d gift bags to select nominees. This year\u2019s Oscars goodie bag contains gifts valued at just over $137,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The most expensive item in this year\u2019s bag is a $50,000 three-night stay at Turin Castle in Scotland. This was apparently inspired by \u201cThe Tragedy of Macbeth,\u201d for which Denzel Washington received a \u201cBest Actor\u201d nod. Guests will receive full access to a 17th-century castle that comes with butler service and a bagpiper to welcome them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The over-the-top extravagant bags include 52 other items and experiences. Here are some highlighted by CNBC:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span>A $12,000 \u201cCelebrity Arms\u201d liposuction procedure from cosmetic surgeon Dr. Thomas Su<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>The title of \u201cLord\u201d or \u201cLady of Glencoe,\u201d along with a small plot of land in Scotland<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>$25,000 worth of home renovations from Los Angeles-based Maison Construction<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>An assortment of \u201cflavor wrapped\u201d popcorn packages from Opopop<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>Up to $10,000 worth of \u201ctreatments and rejuvenation procedures\u201d from Dr. Konstantin Vasyukevich<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>A $15,000 four-night stay for two at the Golden Door luxury resort and spa in Escondico, Calif.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>A small batch tea gift set from Oprah-approved The Chai Box<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span>A $1,200 life coaching session with wellness expert Kayote Joseph<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary explained that the gift bags have their \u201cown reputation within the entertainment industry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe get calls from about 25% to 30% of the nominees each year who want to make sure we know where to get their bag to them,\u201d Fary told CNBC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI am mailing them to Olivia Colman and Judi Dench at their homes in the UK, and Penelope Cruz wanted hers shipped to Madrid,\u201d Fary continued. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly expensive, so I try not to ship them if I don\u2019t have to, but I will for the Penelope Cruzes of the world, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Only the biggest nominees and presenters received the bag. In 2022, that means 28 people including nominees for \u201cBest Actress,\u201d \u201cBest Actor,\u201d \u201cBest Supporting Actress,\u201d \u201cBest Supporting Actor,\u201d and \u201cBest Director\u201d plus hosts Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, and Regina Hall got one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fary explained how limiting the number of people who receive the best gifts means the company can provide more luxurious items in each bag.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s a very small group of people compared to the 150 gift bags we create for the Grammys,\u201d the company founder explained. \u201cThat allows for products or services that would never be able to give away 150 items to be able to give away much more highly valued things.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Recipients do have to pay taxes on the gifts, but even with that caveat, they\u2019re getting thousands of dollars worth of exclusive merchandise for free.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Enter for the chance to hang out with Gina Carano at the premiere of her new Daily Wire movie, Terror on the Prairie!
