Everyone was just so shocked in the room, it was so uncomfortable. I think Will would not want to give his Oscar back, but who knows what will happen now,\u201d the insider told the paper.<\/p>\n<p>The code of conduct, \u201creleased back in 2017 in the wake of the sexual misconduct scandal that hit the industry, emphasizes the importance of \u2018upholding the Academy\u2019s values,\u2019 like inclusion, fostering supportive environments, and \u2018respect for human dignity,&#8217;\u201d the Post said.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy\u2019s CEO at the time, Dawn Hudson, wrote to members: \u201cAcademy membership is a privilege offered to only a select few within the global community of filmmakers,\u201d Variety <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2018\/film\/news\/film-academy-moves-forward-with-code-of-conduct-procedures-for-membership-1202679197\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Academy has not directly commented on the incident, but did take to Twitter to say: \u201cThe Academy does not condone violence of any form. Then he got to Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJada, I love you, G.I. Jane 2, can\u2019t wait to see it. All right?\u201d Rock said. The joke was a reference to a movie that starred Demi Moore as a Navy lieutenant in which the actress sports a shaved head. Jada Pinkett Smith, too, has a shaved head, because she suffers from alopecia.<\/p>\n<p>While she rolled her eyes a bit and didn\u2019t laugh, her husband guffawed heartily, a big smile on his face. \u201cThat was a nice one, OK?\u201d Rock said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m out here \u2013\u201d Rock then said before breaking off. \u201cUh oh. Richard?\u201d he said, referring to Will Smith\u2019s part playing the father of Serena and Venus Williams\u2019 father in \u201cKing Richard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith strode onto the stage a took a swipe at Rock, not with a fist but an open hand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh wow,\u201d Rock said. \u201cWow. Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Smith then yelled, \u201cKeep my wife\u2019s name out of your f***ing mouth!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow, dude,\u201d Rock replied. \u201cIt was a G.I.
