The hefty purchase could\u2019ve perhaps been put to better use, as the Congresswoman in December 2021 quoted her student loan debt at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zackfriedman\/2021\/12\/02\/student-loans-are-ridiculous-says-aoc\/?sh=60f4bae74e72\">$17,000<\/a> (which is in line with her financial disclosures, which reported the figure between $15k-50k), but she\u2019s holding out on a bailout.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10650859\/AOC-Biden-danger-losing-support-progressives-young-Democrats-doesnt-cancel-student-debt.html\">Spectrum News NY1<\/a>, AOC debuted the bold thesis that Biden is in danger of losing support if he doesn\u2019t make the American taxpayers pay off her student debt that amounts to 10% of her pre-tax income (and everyone else with debt). \u201cWe need to acknowledge that this isn\u2019t just about middle of the road, increasingly narrow band of independent voters. But, this is really about the collapse of support among young people, among Democratic base, feeling like they worked overtime to get this president elected and they aren\u2019t necessarily being seen,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is Biden\u2019s power and ability to cancel student debt, and nobody else\u2019s.
