It appears unlikely that he will succeed in trying to enter the country again in the future,\u201d the press release stated.<\/p>\n<p>South Korea\u2019s Yonhap News Agency reported on March 23 that the man in question was allegedly \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.yna.co.kr\/view\/AEN20220323003100325\">refusing<\/a>\u201d to leave Poland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSouth Korean Embassy personnel are waiting to contact the Marine outside a checkpoint in a Polish border region to which the man was taken after he was denied access to Ukraine on Tuesday [March 22],\u201d Yonhap relayed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHe is reportedly refusing to come out of the checkpoint for an unspecified reason. Embassy officials are not allowed to enter the checkpoint as it is a facility under foreign jurisdiction,\u201d the news agency revealed.<\/p>\n<p>South Korean media has described the marine in question as 20 years old and a suspected South Korean military deserter. The man arrived in Warsaw, Poland, from South Korea on the morning of March 21, allegedly without permission from South Korea\u2019s government. South Korean law requires all people serving in positions of mandatory military service to request permission from their superiors before traveling outside the country. Military personnel who neglect to ask for travel permission are subject to punishments for the crime of \u201cdesertion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>South Korea\u2019s federal government in mid-February forbade its citizens from traveling to Ukraine for any reason citing safety concerns. Seoul issued the notice in the days leading up to Russia\u2019s military invasion of Ukraine on <a href=\"https:\/\/tass.com\/politics\/1409329\">February 24<\/a>. The conflict between the neighboring countries has escalated into a full-scale war over the past month.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-60544838\">announced<\/a> on February 27 Kyiv\u2019s formation of an \u201cinternational\u201d legion. He said he hoped the legion\u2019s advertisement would help recruit foreigners to Ukraine interested in supporting the nation\u2019s army in combat against Russia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone who wants to join the defense of security in Europe and the world may come and stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainians against the invaders of the 21st Century,\u201d Zelensky was quoted as saying by his official website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government [of Ukriane] has temporarily axed its visa requirements and offered equipment and a salary to those with a valid passport and military training,\u201d the BBC reported on March 16.<\/p>\n<p>Men worldwide, including \u201cseveral hundred\u201d across Africa, have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/africa\/2022\/03\/17\/report-nigerians-seeking-fight-russia-expect-war-ukraine-better-than-peace-home\/\">expressed<\/a> interest in joining Ukraine\u2019s foreign legion since it formed on February 27.
