Hawkins\u2019 defense team requested a single day in jail and five years of supervision.<\/p>\n<p>Following his sentence, in 2019, Hawkins was ordered by Jackson to complete his supervised release at a halfway house, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/2022\/03\/24\/hawkins-brown-jackson-pornography-sentence\/\">according<\/a> to the <em>Washington Post,<\/em>\u00a0because he had been searching \u201csexually arousing, non-pornographic material and images of males 13 to 16-years-old\u201d and was highly likely to re-offend.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/2022\/03\/25\/wesley-hawkins-ketanji-brown-jackson\/\">an interview<\/a> with the <em>Post<\/em>, Hawkins seemingly thanked Jackson for the lenient sentence and acknowledged that he received far less prison time than many other sex offenders convicted for child pornography possession:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Perhaps most surprising, Hawkins said, was that he found himself feeling sympathy for the judge<\/strong> he had once been angry with for sending him to prison. [Emphasis added]\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t very happy that she gave me three months, though <strong>after reflection when I was in jail, I was hearing from other people who said it was their first time arrested and they got five years, six years<\/strong>. [Emphasis added]\n<p><strong>\u201cI feel that she chose to take into consideration the fact that I was just getting started [in life] and she knew this was going to hold me back<\/strong> for years to come regardless,\u201d he said, <strong>\u201cso she didn\u2019t really want to add on to that.\u201d <\/strong>[Emphasis added]\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In other remarks to the <em>Post<\/em>, Hawkins seemingly confirmed reports that Jackson ordered him to finish his supervised release in a halfway house because he was considered a high risk to re-offend based on his computer searches.<\/p>\n<p>At her confirmation hearing, Jackson was asked if she had regretted sentencing Hawkins to only three months in prison. Jackson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/23\/watch-judge-ketanji-brown-jackson-wont-say-if-she-regrets-short-child-porn-sentences\/\">did not say<\/a> if she regrets the decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I regret is that in a hearing about my qualifications to be a justice on the Supreme Court, we\u2019ve spent a lot of time focusing on this small subset of my sentences and I\u2019ve tried to explain,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Sens.\u00a0Tom Cotton (R-AR), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Josh Hawley (R-MO), John Kennedy (R-LA), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/25\/senate-republicans-demand-answers-on-ketanji-brown-jacksons-three-month-sentence-for-sex-offender\/\">authored a letter<\/a> to Jackson, demanding she provide documents and additional information on the Hawkins case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour lenient sentencing in the Hawkins case was the subject of significant interest in the Committee\u2019s review of your judicial record,\u201d the Senators wrote. \u201cOur review of your nomination requires that the Committee fully understand the circumstances that informed your actions in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
