One year ago, the average price of gas in the state was $3.88, a full $2.02 less.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Nationwide, the average price of gas ($4.24) has increased by about 70 cents since Russia invaded Ukraine. Biden has also halted new drilling on public lands and terminated the Keystone pipeline project that would have transported vast amounts of oil to American refineries.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>On Friday,\u00a0Gov. Gavin Newsom (D)\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/24\/democrats-propose-cash-rebates-counter-bidens-soaring-gas-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">proposed<\/a>\u00a0countering Biden\u2019s high gas prices by handing out $400 direct payments per vehicle. As a result, the average driver in California is charged about $300 in excise gas tax each year, according to Newsom\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-u5wzz1-0 dOUYsl\">Newsom\u2019s plan to give money to drivers would entail $400 debit cards for registered vehicles, including electric-powered vehicles, perhaps to not reduce the incentive to purchase an expensive electric-powered car.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme would cost $9 billion of taxpayers\u2019 money, according to the\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>.
