Ted Cruz (R-TX) raised the issue with Jackson but she claimed to have no \u201ccontrol\u201d over the school\u2019s curriculum as a trustee. When asked by Cruz if critical race theory was taught in schools across the United States, Jackson said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Senator, <strong>I don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t think so<\/strong>. I believe it\u2019s an academic theory that\u2019s at the law school level. [Emphasis added].<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jackson also said she did not know if critical race theory was taught at Georgetown Day School despite her role on the board of trustees \u201cbecause the board is not, the board does not control the curriculum, the board does not focus on that, that\u2019s not what we do as board members so I\u2019m actually not sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">Senate Judiciary Committee<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Cruz, however, went through a laundry list of evidence showing the ideology being taught at Georgetown Day School, including some materials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gds.org\/academics\/diversity-equity-and-inclusion\/resources-for-parents\">provided<\/a> on its lengthy\u00a0\u201cFamily and Educator Anti-Racist Resources\u201d list.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The list, Cruz pointed out, recommends to eight- and nine-year-olds\u00a0<em>Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You<\/em>, by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi, a book that asks, \u201cCan we send white people back to Europe?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other \u201cBooks for Kids\u201d include a list of 40 \u201cpicture books for young activists,\u201d \u201c31 Children\u2019s books to support conversations on race, racism, and resistance,\u201d and\u00a0<em>75 Things White People Can Do for Racial Justice<\/em>\u00a0by Corinne Shutack.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the revelations, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) told Breitbart News in a statement that critical race theory \u201cis a toxic ideology that has no place in schools\u201d and that \u201cJudge\u00a0Jackson needs to answer questions about what she knew and when she knew it\u201d in regard to her role as a trustee at Georgetown Day School.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told Breitbart News that she finds Jackson\u2019s comments on Pre K\u201312 education \u201cdeeply concerning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a time when parental rights are under assault by the radical left, Judge Jackson\u2019s public comments about \u2018the transformative power of progressive education\u2019 are deeply concerning,\u201d Blackburn said. \u201cJudge Jackson\u2019s public endorsement of this kind of progressive indoctrination of our children causes me great concern when it comes to how she might rule in cases involving parental rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Georgetown Day School prides itself on its \u201cprogressive education\u201d and attempts to tie its origin as the first racially integrated school in Washington, DC, to its current indoctrination scheme that pushes outrightly false history and race essentialism as paramount to a child\u2019s education.<\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/24\/school-board-of-trustees-plays-critical-role-in-pushing-critical-race-theory-despite-ketanji-brown-jacksons-denial\/\">reported<\/a>, despite Jackson\u2019s testimony to the opposite, the Board of Trustees does, in fact, deal with curriculum and the broader push for the radical racial doctrine on a school-wide basis.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Georgetown Day School\u2019s Board of Trustees, of which Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson is a member, plays a \u201ccritical\u201d role in the implementation of critical race theory at the school, despite Jackson testifying to the opposite. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MKtpa0PvD2\">https:\/\/t.co\/MKtpa0PvD2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1507035434458791952?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 24, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a letter from Board chair Lisa Fairfax, who introduced Jackson to the Senate at the onset of her confirmation hearings, the Board recognized the \u201ccritical role in ensuring that we fulfill the GDS mission\u201d to implement \u201canti-racist\u201d action into all aspects of school life. \u201cAnti-racist\u201d is a term used by the left to surreptitiously refer to critical race theory in order to benefit politically from being able to deny its existence at a K\u201312 level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand the Board must engage in this work,\u201d the letter from the Board chair continued, while pinpointing \u201cconcerns about the GDS curriculum\u201d as an area of focus in its commitment to \u201cdoing better\u201d to implement critical race theory.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Part of \u201cdoing better\u201d has been a push to create \u201caffinity groups,\u201d\u00a0a pet name proponents of critical race theory have given to segregation \u2014 typically racial \u2014 as they are focused on exclusively bringing together persons based on immutable characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the school called on members of its \u201cwhite community\u201d saying ultimately that the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd are \u201cwhat occurs when we do not view the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion as all of our work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Georgetown Day School\u2019s agitation for critical race theory has\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gds.org\/about\/news\/story\/~board\/gds-news\/post\/curated-menu-for-black-lives-matter-at-schools-week-of-action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">resulted<\/a>\u00a0in its commitment to the \u201cBlack Lives Matter at School Week of Action,\u201d which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/24\/denver-elementary-school-to-teach-kindergarten-and-first-grade-the-disruption-of-western-nuclear-family-dynamics\/\">teaches<\/a>\u00a0children Marxist principles such as \u201cdestroying the Western nuclear family,\u201d in favor of \u201cblack villages\u201d \u2014 or the \u201ccollective village\u201d \u2014 as well as being\u00a0\u201ctransgender affirming\u201d and \u201cqueer affirming\u201d to create a \u201cnetwork where heteronormative thinking no longer exists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Georgetown Day School has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/23\/k-12-school-where-ketanji-brown-jackson-sits-on-board-pushes-adult-sexual-content-on-children\/\">exposed<\/a> its students to adult sexual content and pushed them directly to agitate toward social justice.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the school\u2019s drama department put on a musical\u00a0rendition of the sexually explicit 1906 German play\u00a0<em>Spring Awakening<\/em>, which explores adolescent sexual experimentation.<\/p>\n<p>The musical \u201cis not only about sexual awakening, but perhaps more so about self-discovery,\u201d Georgetown Day School High School Performing Arts Department chair Laura Rosberg\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/hoppereffect.gds.org\/spring-awakening-a-cautionary-note-and-an-in-depth-study-of-the-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">said<\/a>\u00a0in a Disclaimer to potential audience members. \u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed the irony of a story about intimacy at a time when kids can\u2019t be intimate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The play that featured songs such as \u201cTouch Me,\u201d \u201cThe Word of Your Body,\u201d \u201cTotally Fucked,\u201d and \u201cThe Bitch of Living\u201d kept \u201ccounselors [sic] on call\u201d for the student actors, according to Rosberg.<\/p>\n<p>According to the student paper, some students and staff had \u201creservations\u201d about doing the play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing more exposed and immersed in what we were doing, I got a little bit desensitized,\u201d one of the actresses, a junior, said. \u201cBut the subject matter is still very heavy.\u201d Technical Director Christal Boyd also voiced concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The school\u2019s fourth-graders were also forced into performative, left-wing activism in \u201cFree to Be Me,\u201d an assembly aimed at celebrating \u201cLGBTQ+ voices,\u201d which also compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.<\/p>\n<p>After explaining what the acronym \u201cLGBTQ+\u201d means, one fourth-grader said, \u201cthere are many, many more identities in the LGBTQ+ community that we haven\u2019t learned enough about yet. They are important and we will learn more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the central themes of the presentation was that being an \u201cally\u201d was not enough, favoring activism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow let\u2019s look at a quote from Audrey Lorde, a famous poet and activist who described herself as black, lesbian mother, warrior poet,\u201d one fourth-grader said. \u201cShe said, \u2018You do not have to be me in order for us to fight alongside each other.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet another fourth-grader said, \u201cBeing an ally is all about showing up pushing back and taking action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Questions about Jackson\u2019s connection to critical race theory abound as her Senate confirmation process, which has also called into question her apparent sentencing leniency in child pornography cases, continues. She has thus far maintained her position that the Board of Trustees on which she sits is not involved with these types of issues at the school and that she is unaware of critical race theory being taught there.<\/p>\n<p>To score a spot on the Supreme Court, Jackson needs 50 votes in the Senate as Vice President Kamala Harris can break a tie. Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and\u00a0Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) are all considered potential swing votes.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) vowed to oppose Jackson\u2019s confirmation.\u00a0Senate Republicans need Murkowski, Collins, and Romney, as well as either Manchin or Sinema to block Jackson\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Breccan F.
