Of those respondents, 44 percent of the respondents strongly support this method.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Only 14 percent oppose having a\u00a0<span dir=\"auto\">temporary break from paying the federal gas tax. While an overwhelming majority support a break, only 13 percent have no opinion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>When asked about a temporary break from paying state taxes when at the pump as another way to reduce the price of gas, 72 percent support this method.\u00a0Of those respondents, 42 percent strongly support it.<\/p>\n<p>Only 15 percent oppose having a\u00a0<span dir=\"auto\">temporary break from paying the state tax on gas. Again, while an overwhelming majority support such a break, only 13 percent have no opinion.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">While not as high a percentage, a majority of the respondents also said they support the\u00a0<\/span>federal government releasing some of the oil from the country\u2019s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Sixty-four percent said they support this, while 33 percent of those respondents strongly support this method to reduce the cost.<\/p>\n<p>There is slightly higher opposition to this method than the others. Nineteen percent oppose it, while 18 percent have no opinion.<\/p>\n<p>As oil and gas prices have skyrocketed over the last year under President Joe Biden\u2019s leadership, oil companies have had many problems domestically as the administration has taken aim at\u00a0American energy independence.\u00a0As the Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/10\/green-energy-advocate-sec-granholm-pleads-with-fossil-fuel-executives-to-up-production\/\">pushes<\/a>\u00a0for a world that doesn\u2019t use oil, it makes oil investment scarcer and the country more reliant on foreign oil.<\/p>\n<p>This is due to the Biden administration\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-joe-biden-keystone-pipeline-canada-environment-and-nature-141eabd7cca6449dfbd2dab8165812f2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">canceling<\/a> the\u00a0Keystone XL Pipeline, <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/01\/27\/biden-suspends-oil-and-gas-drilling-in-series-of.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">suspending<\/a> oil and gas leasing on public lands and waters, <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-12-10\/biden-halts-federal-aid-to-coal-oil-and-gas-projects-overseas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">halting<\/a>\u00a0federal support for oil and gas projects overseas, and\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/06\/01\/climate\/biden-drilling-arctic-national-wildlife-refuge.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">suspending<\/a>\u00a0oil drilling leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, though Energy Secretary\u00a0Jennifer Granholm once\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/585799-energy-chief-we-are-not-considering-oil-export-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">said<\/a> the administration would not impose a ban on crude oil exports, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-57180674\">waived<\/a> the sanctions on Russia\u2019s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, a move that would\u00a0reduce American energy exports. The Ukrainians\u00a0have even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/nord-stream-sanctions-ukraine-russia-c1e2b76b-5671-4a25-b48d-6bff21d2de20.html\">claimed<\/a> that lifting the sanctions on Nord Stream 2 is one of the reasons\u00a0the Russians invaded their country.<\/p>\n<p>This is all while Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/07\/pete-buttigieg-promotes-electric-cars-public-transportation-as-solution-to-high-gas-prices\/\">suggested<\/a> that Americans struggling with high gas prices switch to electric vehicles to save money.<\/p>\n<p>The recent poll from Morning Consult\/<em>Politico<\/em>\u00a0was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=0000017f-b51c-d17b-a1ff-b7dde2e60000\">conducted<\/a> from March 18 to 20, with the participation of 2,005 registered voters.
