Ted Cruz (R-TX) about Georgetown Day School\u2019s curriculum being steeped in critical race theory, Jackson said the ideology was only taught in law schools and that the board she sits on \u201cdoes not control the curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_20348048\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/03\/AP22082695377020.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson listens as Sen. (AP Photo\/Alex Brandon)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Despite this, documents from the school show an intense push to implement \u201canti-racist\u201d ideology \u2014 a term used to surreptitiously refer to critical race theory \u2014 with the guidance of the Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have begun planning for ways in which the Board can play its critical role in ensuring that we fulfill the GDS mission and for ways in which the Board can serve as a source of oversight and accountability for the important work to be done,\u201d a July 17 <a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/podium\/push\/default.aspx?s=416&#038;i=418417&#038;u=0\">letter<\/a> from Board chair Lisa Fairfax and head of school Russell Shaw says. \u201c<strong>We understand that the Board\u00a0must be engaged in this work<\/strong>.\u201d [Emphasis in original].<\/p>\n<p>Fairfax introduced Jackson to the Senate as nomination proceedings began.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cimportant work\u201d referred to in the letter included a wide variety of reforms, including \u201cconcerns about curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After having reviewed \u201cpainful personal experiences\u201d from current and former students, parents, and faculty \u201cwho identify as Black\u201d posted on the \u201cBlackatGDS\u201d Instagram page, the Fairfax and Shaw felt obligated to \u201cacknowledge that pain and take action.\u201d They also apologized.<\/p>\n<p><b>And, we commit to doing better<\/b>,\u201d it continues. \u201cWe recognize that acknowledgement and apologies are not enough. Taken together, the stories we have gathered allow us to identify areas of our work ahead.\u201d [Emphasis in original]. [sic]\n<p>Some pinpointed areas of interest for Georgetown Day School were \u201cconcerns about the GDS curriculum\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>About whether it reflects the stories of all in our community, inappropriately portrays the Black community and other communities of color as victims, appropriately incorporates the positive contributions of members of the Black community, and tells those stories in ways that can be heard and understood.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Interestingly, portraying non-white persons as inherent victims \u2014 or, \u201coppressed\u201d \u2014 in American society is a key tenet of critical race theory. In this portion of Georgetown Day School\u2019s plan, the \u201canti-racism work\u201d appears to be focused on both requiring white persons to acknowledge some role in perpetuating a racist society and creating \u201caffinity groups\u201d for black students, families, and staff.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>An \u201caffinity group\u201d is a pet name proponents of critical race theory have given to segregation \u2014 typically racial \u2014 as they are focused on exclusively bringing together persons based on immutable characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>The board came to \u201ca recognition that the entire GDS community\u2014including members of the white community, students and parents, faculty and staff\u2014must commit to engaging in the intentional work of fostering an antiracist environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have begun outreach efforts to members of our white community and others who do not identify as Black, and will be exploring ways to better ensure that our entire community commits to making GDS an antiracist institution,\u201d it continued. \u201c<b>We understand that our work cannot be effective without meaningful engagement from, and partnership with, members of our white community and others who do not identify as Black<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To these ends, and others, the Board of Trustees was in charge of \u201cformulating an action plan with specific and concrete short-, medium-, and long-term goals and targets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of that, Shaw was charged with \u201ccontinu[ing] the dialogue\u201d on how Georgetown Day School \u201cis committed to making Black Lives Matter at GDS.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Board of Trustees\u2019 involvement with pushing \u201canti-racist\u201d action may in part be attributed to a June 19 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/gds.myschoolapp.com\/podium\/push\/default.aspx?i=415575\">Call to Action<\/a>\u201d which references such \u201cBoard-approved principles\u201d as:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Establishing specific goals and measurable outcomes related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/li>\n<li>Cultivating and sustaining diverse Board of Trustee representation.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring equitable access to a GDS education through a growing financial aid commitment.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring equitable hiring and retention practices.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring equitable and inclusive school policy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cRacism is a socially-conditioned pollutant that we all breathe in daily,\u201d it says. \u201cCleansing the lungs requires us to engage in conscious and reflective teaching and learning practices to ensure that we are not, as a school, intentionally or unintentionally, perpetuating systemic and institutional racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a message to \u201cGeorgetown Day School\u2019s White Community,\u201d the school said that incidents like the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd are \u201cwhat occurs when we do not view the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion as all of our work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile modern technology makes visible the trauma of racism and anti-Black violence, that trauma is not new,\u201d it continues. \u201cAs members of the GDS community, we ask you to join our White colleagues in holding ourselves accountable to the founding principles of our School.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It then lists the following \u201cwork\u201d white persons can do to make race central to their lives:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Engaging in White anti-racist work and educating ourselves and our children on the societal conditioning of\u00a0<a class=\"pplink\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/u\/0\/d\/1VMzPbUotmuVwGbHhrMa_dZRma_CC1cajbRYz3iNi5to\/mobilebasic?usp=gmail_thread\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-Black racism<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that the race conversation is not one that is only had by people of color and members of our Black community; and<\/li>\n<li>Engaging in educational opportunities and programming that seeks to heighten our awareness of\u00a0<a class=\"pplink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.teachingforchange.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/ec_whiteracialidentity_english.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White racial identity development<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe will increase curricular and DEI programming opportunities for all of our students, with the goal of helping them understand what it means to be an anti-racist, including in our existing seminar classes,\u201d it concludes.<\/p>\n<p>Georgetown Day School\u2019s agitation for critical race theory has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gds.org\/about\/news\/story\/~board\/gds-news\/post\/curated-menu-for-black-lives-matter-at-schools-week-of-action\">resulted<\/a> in their commitment to the \u201cBlack Lives Matter at School Week of Action,\u201d which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/24\/denver-elementary-school-to-teach-kindergarten-and-first-grade-the-disruption-of-western-nuclear-family-dynamics\/\">teaches<\/a> children Marxist principles such as \u201cdestroying the Western nuclear family,\u201d in favor of \u201cblack villages\u201d \u2014 or the \u201ccollective village\u201d \u2014 as well as being\u00a0\u201ctransgender affirming\u201d and \u201cqueer affirming\u201d to create a \u201cnetwork where heteronormative thinking no longer exists.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20323793\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ted-cruz-crt-ketanji-brown-jackson-getty.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20323793\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ted-cruz-crt-ketanji-brown-jackson-getty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sen. Kendi, a book that asks, \u201cCan we send white people back to Europe?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other \u201cBooks for Kids\u201d include a list of 40 \u201cpicture books for young activists,\u201d \u201c31 Children\u2019s books to support conversations on race, racism, and resistance,\u201d and\u00a0<em>75 Things White People Can Do for Racial Justice<\/em> by Corinne Shutack.<\/p>\n<p>Questions about Jackson\u2019s connection to critical race theory abound as her Senate confirmation process, which has also called into question her apparent sentencing leniency in child pornography cases, continues.<\/p>\n<p><em>Breccan F.
