Vice President Kamala Harris told Americans this month that inflation is just the \u201cprice to pay for democracy.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<p>That was just one day after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/10\/yes-biden-will-absolutely-blame-putin-for-every-domestic-crisis-until-the-midterms\/\">blamed<\/a> rising gas prices and costs of goods on Russia\u2019s Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the corrupt corporate media and Biden administration\u2019s insistence that inflation and supply chain issues are no big deal, they are a big deal for many people. Here are some less insulting ways to fight inflation and the people who caused it aside from wealthy, beltway elites\u2019 fantasies that you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/vegetarian-diet-cheaper-inflation-11136af0-4b11-4e13-9991-71f5beaf26f6.html\">go completely vegan<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10587073\/Harris-pushes-green-energy-Americans-face-record-gas-prices.html\">buy an electric car<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bring-back-potlucks\">Bring Back Potlucks<\/h2>\n<p>After tyrants tried to keep Americans shuttered in their homes and distanced for two years, we need community more than ever. And what better way to socialize than a group dinner where everyone brings a dish to share? <\/p>\n<p>Inflation is pushing the price of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2022\/03\/21\/food-bank-need-surges-with-inflation\/\">dining out and groceries<\/a> higher every day, so now is a great time to invest in alternative meal options that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LevineJonathan\/status\/1505321676267048960?s=20&#038;t=5dzLEeTH_nEYBIV8LD7ABw\">aren\u2019t lentils<\/a>. Host a neighborhood potluck or, even better, encourage your church to put on a community-wide, food-filled event where everyone pitches in with a homemade, cost-effective dish and gets to eat until their bellies are full. It\u2019s cheaper than eating out, a fun way to connect with normal Americans, and a great way to stuff it to the health bureaucrats and politicians who wished you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/12\/16\/politics\/joe-biden-warning-winter\/index.html\">\u201csevere illness and death\u201d for celebrating Christmas.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"turn-off-your-tv\">Turn Off Your TV<\/h2>\n<p>Seriously, get rid of cable and all the bills that come with it. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneytalksnews.com\/another-cable-company-will-hike-prices-in-2022\/\">Cable price hikes<\/a> are becoming more frequent as cable companies try to stay ahead of the inflation curve. Everything on TV nowadays is hogwash, anyways, and cutting the cord will protect your wallet and your sanity. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"buy-in-bulk\">Buy in Bulk<\/h2>\n<p>Contrary to Ghilarducci\u2019s claims, buying in bulk can save you money as long as you\u2019re attentive. Bulk items typically have a lower cost per unit than buying singular products, and with gas prices quickly rising, buying in bulk will save you from making so many trips to the grocery store. That\u2019s why <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/04\/why-blue-checks-are-mocking-a-middle-class-familys-12-gallon-a-week-consumption-of-milk\/\">big families with lots of kids<\/a> already benefit from shopping at bulk stores such as Costco.<\/p>\n<p>As long as you avoid straying from your grocery list and avoid buying perishables, your bulk purchases will save you money. Most of the time, items such as toiletries, canned goods, toilet paper, other paper goods, cereal, and dry rice and beans are well worth buying in big batches.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"get-your-hands-dirty\">Get Your Hands Dirty<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to save a little money but are tired of racking up your grocery bill, try starting a garden. A 2020 food cultivation study found that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepennyhoarder.com\/save-money\/grow-your-own-food\/\">small, variety garden<\/a> could yield \u201can estimated 300 pounds of fresh produce worth $600\u2033 that you wouldn\u2019t have to pay at the grocery store.<\/p>\n<p>Starting a garden is simple and doesn\u2019t require extra purchases if you\u2019re willing to get resourceful. Save seeds and starts from your grocery produce and start by germinating them in jars you find around the house. Compost any nutritious food waste to feed the soil. Be consistent in your watering and care, and soon enough you\u2019ll be eating yummy fruits and veggies that cost you little. When you shop locally for produce, you don\u2019t run the risk of paying higher prices for food that was shipped across the country or scouring bare shelves because there\u2019s a supply chain crisis. You also don\u2019t have to buy from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/tyson-foods-covid-vaccine-employees-november\/\">anti-freedom companies<\/a> or big-box retailers that profited off of the government-mandated lockdowns which hurt many small businesses. <\/p>\n<p>Start by researching whether your town hosts a regular farmers\u2019 market and plan a visit to test out the service and quality of the items available. Once you find a farmer that you think will be a reliable source for your family\u2019s produce, you might also consider buying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southernsavers.com\/saving-on-meat-how-to-buy-a-cow\/\">a cut of a cow<\/a> from a rancher so you have a supply of beef that can be frozen for long periods of time.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"borrow-better\">Borrow Better<\/h2>\n<p>Avoid making massive purchases on one-off items by borrowing from your family, friends, and neighbors.
