One clip shows a soldier firing an assault rifle from behind a covered position, while another clip appears to show an armored vehicle being hit with an explosive device. \u201cUkraine vs russia live BBC news,\u201d the caption reads, seemingly attributing the footage to British news outlet BBC.<\/p>\n<p>The videos predate the current conflict in Ukraine. A reverse image search found that all of the footage was shared between 2020 and 2021 by <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/users\/alexkopeykin-6178059\/?tab=about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Kopeykin<\/a>, a Ukrainian videographer. The videos can be found on Kopeykin\u2019s Pixabay <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/users\/alexkopeykin-6178059\/?tab=videos&#038;pagi=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/03\/15\/fact-check-ukraine-russia-destruction-footage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Footage Show Destruction In Ukraine?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first 17 seconds of the video is from a January 2021 clip uploaded by <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/videos\/war-shelling-weapons-soldier-brave-61416\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kopeykin<\/a> to Pixabay. The footage showing an armored personnel carrier with soldiers riding on top is from another <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/videos\/war-explosion-weapons-soldier-61415\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">January 2021<\/a> clip, while the video of armored vehicles moving along a dirt road was <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/videos\/war-soldiers-ukraine-conflict-army-49158\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">uploaded<\/a> in September 2020. Several of Kopeykin\u2019s videos include the tag \u201cUkraine,\u201d suggesting the videos were filmed in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The clip showing a man firing a rocket-propelled grenade was <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/videos\/war-grenade-launcher-weapons-61414\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">uploaded<\/a> to the page Jan. 8, 2021. Another video showing a man, who is wearing a full-face covering, firing a rifle was also <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/videos\/war-grenade-launcher-weapons-61412\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">uploaded<\/a> on the same day. All of the videos are attributed to Kopeykin with no mention of BBC News. None of the aforenoted videos appear on the news outlet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/bbcnews\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/228735667216\/search\/?q=ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=ukraine%20(from%3ABBCWorld)&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pages<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis video was filmed in 2018 and does not refer to the real events in any way,\u201d said Kopeykin in an email to Check Your Fact. \u201cFilmed at the training ground during training. It can be downloaded for free and without a license.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several videos and images have been misattributed to the current conflict in Ukraine.
