Pelosi bought the shares, worth roughly $2.18 million at the time, at a strike price of $500 per share.<\/p>\n<p>Since Paul Pelosi\u2019s purchase, Tesla\u2019s share price <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/TSLA\/\">increased<\/a> nearly 19%, over $1,036 a share, making his tranche worth nearly $2.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2021, Nancy Pelosi <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/09\/nancy-pelosi-trading-ban-stock-act-supreme-court-ethics\/\">defended<\/a> members of Congress who traded stocks despite the potential ethics concerns raised by such activity. I want the public to have that understanding,\u201d Pelosi remarked on Feb. 9. \u201cWe have to do something to deter something that we see as a problem, but it is a confidence issue, and if that\u2019s what the members want to do, then that\u2019s what we\u2019ll do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Forbes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jonathanponciano\/2022\/03\/22\/pelosi-exercises-tesla-stock-options-to-buy-2-million-in-shares\/?sh=625703c250f1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first reported<\/a> Paul Pelosi\u2019s stock purchase Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have pushed heavily for greater green energy spending, urging President Joe Biden to move quickly on pending legislation. Over the last two months, a group of 23 Democrats asked Biden to stand firm on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/10\/28\/president-biden-announces-the-build-back-better-framework\/\">$555 billion for climate action<\/a> that had been included in the Build Back Better Act, and a group of 89 Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/14\/democrats-progressive-caucus-joe-biden-climate-change\/\">said<\/a> the president should go further.<\/p>\n<p>On March 17, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of 97 left-wing lawmakers, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/17\/congressional-progressive-caucus-executive-action-agenda-joe-biden\/\">unveiled<\/a> a sweeping climate agenda for the president to pursue.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/16\/green-new-deal-handouts-subsidies-democrats-joe-biden-budget-energy-climate-change\/\">supported<\/a> a series of green subsidies since taking office, including a $12,500 credit for consumers who purchase a new electric vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/02\/elon-musk-joe-biden-state-of-the-union-tesla\/\">vocal critic<\/a> of Biden, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/14\/elon-musk-joe-biden-marty-walsh-tesla-factory\/\">gave<\/a> Labor Secretary Marty Walsh a tour of Tesla\u2019s facility in Houston, Texas, earlier in March.
