Wade, including in California where women will be able to abort their unborn child for free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this legislation, we\u2019ll help ensure equitable, affordable access to abortion services so that out-of-pocket costs don\u2019t stand in the way of receiving care,\u201d California\u00a0Governor Gavin\u00a0Newsom said in a statement.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Senate Bill 245, named the Abortion Accessibility Act, prohibits insurance companies from charging a deductible, co-pay, or deductible for the procedure, which in California is available until<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cfetus viability.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Newsom\u2019s wife is referred to as \u201cFirst Partner\u201d in the left-wing <em>San Francisco Chronicle\u2019s<\/em> report on the law and pregnancy as a condition experienced by \u201cpregnant people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Chronicle<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/bayarea\/article\/Newsom-signs-bill-to-prevent-health-insurance-17021998.php?sid=5d54065e91d15c7b08162233&#038;utm_source=newsletter&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_content=headlines&#038;utm_campaign=sfc_morningfix\"> reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Co-pays and deductibles can surpass $1,000 and tend to get more expensive as the fetus develops, often putting pregnant people who need or want abortion services in a position where they cannot afford reproductive care, officials said. SB245 will ensure that anyone seeking abortion services in California will have \u201cautonomy over their own bodies and the ability to control their own destinies,\u201d First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The California Future of Abortion Council, an advisory group focused on reproductive health care, recommended the bill\u2019s passage last year as a way to make abortion services more affordable and accessible. Newsom signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Proclamation-on-Reproductive-Freedom.pdf\">Proclamation on Reproductive Freedom<\/a> in 2019 \u2014 a symbolic commitment to safeguarding choice and access in reproductive health care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEliminating out-of-pocket costs for abortion for people with private insurance is a major step in California\u2019s commitment to being a Reproductive Freedom state \u2014 making abortion services more accessible and affordable for all people in California,\u201d Jodi Hicks, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, said in a statement about the law, which go into effect in 2023.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSB 245 becoming law means that more Californians will be able to access the care they want, when they want,\u201d Hicks said.<\/p>\n<p>Another Democrat California lawmaker, Sen.
