The committee surveyed these districts because they are currently held by the most \u201cat-risk\u201d Democrats, whose\u00a0districts President Joe Biden won by only five and half points or less.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The poll found that Biden\u2019s descending approval numbers help Republicans on the\u00a0generic ballot as voters believe Democrats are \u201cout of touch\u201d and \u201ccondescending.\u201d Biden\u2019s approval in the battleground districts is 15 points underwater, as only 40 percent of the voters approve of the president, while 55 percent disapprove. Seventeen percent of those who disapprove, strongly disapprove of Biden\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p>Of the independents surveyed, only 30 percent\u00a0approve of Biden\u2019s job as president, with 62 percent disapproving \u2014 which has\u00a0eroded by a net -34 points since February 2021. With\u00a0Hispanic voters, Biden\u2019s\u00a0approval rating is at a net negative ten, a 31-point drop since\u00a0February 2021.<\/p>\n<p>With all of this, Republicans lead the generic ballot by four points, which the NRCC pointed out is despite Biden winning\u00a0battleground districts by over five points in the last election cycle. Over the last year, since\u00a0February 2021, Republicans have seen a seven-point improvement in the battleground survey. Overall, 75 percent of swing voters in those districts believe that\u00a0Democrats are \u201cout of touch\u201d and \u201ccondescending\u201d towards\u00a0everyday Americans.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The poll found that the cost of living, jobs, and the economy were at the top of the list of concerns for battleground voters, giving\u00a0Republicans an advantage with those voters. Forty-six percent of the respondents indicated that they are mainly concerned with\u00a0economic issues. Twenty-six percent of the respondents said\u00a0inflation and the cost of living should be the most\u00a0important issue for Biden and Congress to work on, while 15 percent are most concerned about jobs and the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans hold a 24-percent advantage over Democrats on the generic ballot with those respondents mostly\u00a0concerned about the cost of living, and a 20-point advantage with respondents who are mostly\u00a0concerned about\u00a0jobs and the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty-two percent of the respondents blame the Biden\u00a0administration and Congressional Democrats\u2019\u00a0unwillingness to allow more oil and gas production in the United States for skyrocketing gas prices. In comparison, only 31 percent blame Russia\u2019s invasion into Ukraine and sanctions on Russian oil and gas. Two-thirds (67 percent) believe Democrats in Congress are spending money out of control, and 56 percent of\u00a0respondents said high gas prices are hurting their families the most, while 41 percent said\u00a0rising food costs are\u00a0hurting their families the most.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents also\u00a0overwhelmingly support Republicans focused on addressing Democrat-created crises. Seventy-five percent of\u00a0respondents said they are more likely to support a Republican candidate who will\u00a0fight to lower the price of groceries and gas. Also, 78 percent said the same for a\u00a0Republican who\u00a0will work to stop cartels from bringing drugs into the United States.\u00a0Additionally, 80 percent said they are\u00a0more likely to support a Republican candidate willing to\u00a0advance energy innovation to help the country\u2019s economic growth and lower energy prices.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, 73 percent of the respondents\u00a0favor increasing\u00a0oil and gas production and exploration across the country \u2014 54 percent of the\u00a0respondents are \u201cstrongly\u201d in favor. Only 23 percent of the respondents said they opposed having an increase in\u00a0oil and gas production and exploration across the country; 13 percent of these said they strongly opposed it.<\/p>\n<p>The NRCC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrcc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/NRCC-March-2022-Battleground-Memo.pdf\">survey<\/a> was conducted from March 12 to 16, and polled 1,000 registered likely voters.
