He\u2019s squarely confronted with the laptop, and he suggested that it was Russian disinformation and pointed to the letter written by some intelligence people that was baseless \u2013 which he knew was a lie,\u201d Barr <a class href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/bill-barr-joe-biden-lied-hunter-biden-laptop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> on Fox News. \u201cAnd I was shocked by that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barr has been on a whirlwind tour hawking his new book, \u201cOne Damn Thing After Another.\u201d In his memoir, he writes that Trump asked about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop and he said he wasn\u2019t going to go there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. President, I can\u2019t talk about that, and I am not going to,\u201d Barr said he told Trump, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10637711\/Bill-Barr-slams-Biden-lying-Hunters-laptop.html\">according<\/a> to the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump, in turn, was displeased with his tone.\u00a0Barr said he asked Trump to consider if the laptop had belonged to one of his five kids,\u201d the Mail reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018You know, if that was one of my kids \u2026\u2019 Trump began, according to the book.\u00a0Barr then cut him off. \u2018Dammit, Mr. President, I am not going to talk to you about Hunter Biden. Period,\u2019 Barr said,\u201d the U.K. paper added.<\/p>\n<p>The existence of the laptop emerged in October 2020, just before the presidential election. The mainstream media quickly questioned its authenticity, and Biden did, too. Barr said that was interfering in an election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re talking about interference in an election I can\u2019t think of anything more,\u201d Barr said about Biden trying to blame the Russians for reports of the laptop. Asked if Biden could face legal problems, Barr said he didn\u2019t want to \u201cventure an opinion.\u201d But Barr said the false laptop narrative could be a problem politically for the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a political standpoint now that this is in people\u2019s consciousness, it had been suppressed up until now, obviously they have a hot potato and just to see how they handle it will be interesting,\u201d Barr said.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/new-york-times-report-hunter-biden-laptop-2020-election-campaign\">acknowledged<\/a> the authenticity of \u00a0Hunter Biden\u2019s missing laptop first reported by The New York Post just before the 2020 election. Since then, the president and members of his administration have been pressured to address queries about allegations of corruption in the Biden family, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pressure-mounting-on-joe-biden-after-nyt-acknowledges-hunter-biden-laptop?%3Futm_source=twitter\">according<\/a> to The Daily Wire\u2019s Cabot Phillips.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re under growing pressure because for the last year and a half, they\u2019ve mostly refused to talk about it, and when they have talked about it, they\u2019ve mostly brushed it off as fake news or even Russian disinformation,\u201d Phillips said. \u201cBiden campaign advisor Simone Sanders for example, said anyone who shared the story was promoting \u2018Russian misinformation\u2019 while White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki implied the same on her Twitter account.
