I\u2019m a judge.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/keCO0PE45I\">pic.twitter.com\/keCO0PE45I<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Tennessee Holler (@TheTNHoller) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheTNHoller\/status\/1506456679919009798?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 23, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cCan you provide a definition for the word \u2018woman\u2019?\u201d Blackburn asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan I provide a definition?\u201d Jackson repeated the question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMmhmm, yeah,\u201d Blackburn confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t,\u201d Jackson replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t?\u201d Blackburn asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot \u2014 in this context, I\u2019m not a biologist,\u201d Jackson laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you believe the meaning of the word \u2018woman\u2019 is so unclear and controversial that you can\u2019t give me a definition?\u201d Blackburn continued to press.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, in my works a judge, what I do is I address disputes,\u201d Jackson pushed back, suggesting that she could only provide a decision based on arguments and the law. \u201cIf there is a dispute about a definition, people make arguments and I look at the law and I decide, so \u2014 I\u2019m not \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that you can\u2019t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,\u201d Blackburn continued.<\/p>\n<p>Blackburn then pivoted to address the controversy surrounding the NCAA swimming championships and the fact that Penn State\u2019s transgender swimmer Lia Thomas \u2014 who is still biologically male \u2014 was allowed to compete against biological women. Thomas ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/multiple-women-beat-lia-thomas-in-womens-200-freestyle\/\">won first place<\/a> in the 500-yard freestyle, fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle, and eighth place in the 100-yard freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust last week an entire generation of young girls watched as our taxpayer-funded institutions permitted a biological man to compete and beat a biological woman in the NCAA swimming championships,\u201d Blackburn said, asking, \u201cWhat message do you think this sends to girls who aspire to compete and win in sports at the highest levels?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, I\u2019m not sure what message that sends,\u201d Jackson replied, adding that she could not answer questions about the legal issues that could arise from that situation because those were issues that could very well come before the court in the future.<\/p>\n<p>After Thomas won the 500-yard freestyle event, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) responded by <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-signs-proclamation-declaring-florida-swimmer-best-womens-swimmer-after-loss-to-trans-athlete\/\">announcing<\/a> that Sarasota native Emma Weyant \u2014 who took second place to Thomas in the 500-yard freestyle at the championship meet \u2014 was the true champion.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis signed a proclamation to that effect on Tuesday, saying in an accompanying tweet, \u201cBy allowing men to compete in women\u2019s sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women, making a mockery of its championships, and perpetuating a fraud.
