Ted Cruz revealed that CRT is taught at the very school where she serves on the board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs critical race theory taught in schools? Is it taught in Kindergarten through twelfth [grade]?\u201d Sen. Ted Cruz questioned\u00a0Jackson.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t think so,\u201d she responded. \u201cI believe it\u2019s an academic theory that is at the law school level.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">So Judge Brown is on the board of a school that teaches racism. Ignorance is no excuse. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OZE3eCDzRF\">https:\/\/t.co\/OZE3eCDzRF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 toddstarnes (@toddstarnes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/toddstarnes\/status\/1506366417427484672?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 22, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cruz then proceeded to point to books that are a part of the Georgetown Day School curriculum, which espouses CRT. Cruz cited the books \u201cCritical Race Theory, An Introduction\u201d and \u201cAntiracist Baby\u201d as examples of the books. Jackson has been a board of trustees member at Georgetown Day School since 2019 and a member of the Georgetown Day School community for about a decade.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>When Jackson was confronted with Cruz\u2019s knowledge of her position on the board, Jackson excused her role in the school\u2019s CTR curriculum because she \u201cdoes not control the curriculum\u201d and \u201cis not focused on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre\u00a0you comfortable with these ideas being taught to children as young as four in respect to the first book, and and young as eight and nine in the respect to the second book,\u201d Cruz immediately questioned Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>Presented with hard evidence, Jackson backtracked on her previous statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not reviewed any of those books [or] any of those ideas,\u201d she responded. \u201cThey do not come up as my work as a judge,\u201d she claimed, acknowledging the\u00a0Critical Race Theory is not taught in schools.<\/p>\n<p>Georgetown Day School\u2019s website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gds.org\/academics\/diversity-equity-and-inclusion\/anti-racism-action-plan\">reveals<\/a> the board of trustees\u00a0participates\u00a0in administrating an \u201canti-racism action plan,\u201d including the review and revisions of \u201ccurrent language around community expectations,\u201d along with reviewing \u201canti-racist work\u201d to \u201cinform potential governance changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Fairfax, the chairwoman of the board of trustees at the Georgetown Day School, is a \u201cfriend\u201d of Jackson and\u00a0introduced\u00a0her on the opening day of Jackson\u2019s confirmation hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson\u2019s backtracking on CRT speaks to the challenges she may have in being confirmed to the Court.\u00a0Only 47 percent of voters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/22\/poll-47-percent-say-bidens-supreme-court-nominee-should-confirmed\/\">believe<\/a> Jackson should be confirmed, a Tuesday Politico\/Morning Consult poll revealed.
