She appeared before the panel Tuesday in the second day of her confirmation hearings on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n<p>The nominee addressed concerns she did not follow federal sentencing guidelines in cases involving child pornography offenders. Jackson asserted she understands how horrible the crime is and has placed adequate restraints on those convicted. She also emphasized the importance of being impartial while ruling on cases.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cOver the course of my almost decade on the bench, I have developed a methodology that I use in order to ensure that I am ruling impartially and that I am adhering to the limits on my judicial authority,\u201d stated the Supreme Court nominee. \u201cI am acutely aware that as a judge in our system, I have limited power and I am trying in every case to stay in my lane.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her judicial philosophy: &#8220;It&#8217;s very important that judges rules without fear or favor.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qVYivsF6i5\">pic.twitter.com\/qVYivsF6i5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CSPAN (@cspan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cspan\/status\/1506261537933209616?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 22, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jackson was also questioned about court-packing, but declined to give her stance on the issue. She also made her stance on the Second Amendment clear.<\/p>\n<p>When asked by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa)\u00a0 whether the right to bear arms is a fundamental one, Jackson pointed to the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling on the matter. She said it has been established by the nation\u2019s highest court to be a fundamental right.
