So Brady asked cryptocurrency exchange company FTX to toss the fan a Bitcoin to help with the situation. A Bitcoin is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/19\/tom-brady-urges-bitcoin-to-help-fan-who-spent-518k-on-now-worthless-football\/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&#038;utm_medium=SocialFlow&#038;utm_source=NYPTwitter\">worth<\/a> about $42,000.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHey @ftx_official \u2026 could we donate a Bitcoin to the charity of this person\u2019s choice?!\u201d Brady, 44, posted on his Instagram account Friday. Included with the post was video of the quarterback\u2019s pass to Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans, thought to be Brady\u2019s last career pass after Tampa Bay lost that January 23 playoff game to the Los Angeles Rams, and Brady announced his retirement nine days later. In place of the now-notorious football, Brady edited the video to include a big yellow Bitcoin in his hands instead:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CbQZDtBJSix\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The unlucky buyer, who has not been named, will not be able to return the ball, since the purchase was \u201c100 per cent true and accurate at the time of sale,\u201d the UK <em>Daily Mail<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-10628933\/Tom-Brady-wants-bidder-paid-518K-touchdown-football-Bitcoin-charity.html\">reported<\/a>. The buyer beat out 22 other bidders in an online sale that lasted a month, according to reports. <em>Barron\u2019s<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/articles\/how-much-is-tom-bradys-final-touchdown-pass-ball-worth-after-he-unretires-01647293970\">said<\/a> of the purchase:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe value of the ball could drop dramatically,\u201d says Darren Julien, president and CEO of Julien\u2019s Auctions, which was not involved in the sale. \u201cIt\u2019s a unique situation, and the buyer has no recourse to return it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The buyer, who remained anonymous, beat 22 other bidders during the month-long online sale to own \u201ca piece of sports history,\u201d according to the New Jersey-based auction house Lelands, which handled the sale. The ball from Brady\u2019s first-ever touchdown pass in 2001 sold for\u00a0$428,000, and a rookie card for the quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/buccaneers\/2021\/06\/05\/tom-brady-rookie-card-patriots-sells-record-3-1-million\/7560680002\/\">sold<\/a> for $3.1 million in June 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Brady would later\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2022\/03\/13\/unfinished-business-tom-brady-unretires-rejoin-bucs-2022\/\">announce<\/a> that he had changed his mind, and continue another season with the Buccaneers. \u201cUnfinished business,\u201d Brady said was one of the reasons for his decision:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">These past two months I\u2019ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-06-29\/tom-brady-gisele-b-ndchen-take-equity-stake-in-crypto-firm-ftx\">reported<\/a> of the power couple\u2019s new venture in June 2021:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Celebrity couple Tom Brady and Gisele B\u00fcndchen have taken an equity stake in crypto firm FTX as part of a long-term partnership, marking the duo\u2019s newest foray into the world of digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>Both Brady, a celebrated American football player, and B\u00fcndchen, a world-renowned supermodel, will serve as ambassadors for FTX, according to an announcement Tuesday. The cryptocurrency exchange declined to disclose their equity stake, but did say they will both receive an unspecified amount and type of crypto.
