Version: 4.0.47--><div><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">The Chinese coronavirus lockdowns in Britain have reportedly coincided with a significant rise in the number of children seeking gender reassignment therapy at the UK\u2019s socialised healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10631603\/Gender-swap-NHS-waiting-list-children-stands-5-500.html\">report<\/a> from the <em>Mail on Sunday<\/em>, the number of adolescents seeking gender change treatment at the Tavistock and Portman Trust\u2019s Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) in London has increased by a staggering twenty per cent, with 5,500 youngsters currently on the waiting list.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The paper, which uncovered minutes from the controversial branch of the National Health Service (NHS), claimed that the number of children on the waiting list increased significantly during the lockdowns, with 4,600 minors on the waiting list prior to the nation shutting down.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on a possible correlation between the two, the founder of the Transgender Trend campaign group, Stephanie Davies-Arai said: \u201cLife stopped really, so adolescents at that stage in their lives, where they\u2019re really searching for their identity, turn online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re bombarded with messages about being trans and that all of their problems and insecurities and anxieties are because they\u2019re trans.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to the minutes from high-level meetings at the NHS, the health service is also allegedly concerned about a connection between the rise in children seeking gender reassignment and the lockdowns, with one senior figure expressing concern that \u201cthe list had grown substantially during the lockdown\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Whistleblower: Girls Deemed \u2018Transgender\u2019 by UK Health Service for Not Liking \u2018Pink Ribbons and Dollies\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SwV5CGuIZn\">https:\/\/t.co\/SwV5CGuIZn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1463923688202379273?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Tavistock trust \u2014 the main child gender clinic in England \u2014 has come under increasing scrutiny for its practices surrounding gender changes for children, including from former governor of the clinic, Dr David Bell, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/25\/whistleblower-girls-deemed-transgender-by-uk-health-service-for-not-liking-pink-ribbons-and-dollies\/\">accused<\/a> the trust of being too quick to assume that young girls are transgender if they exhibit atypical behaviour such as not liking the colour pink or playing with dolls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a focus on very, very superficial surface phenomena and lack of probing,\u201d Dr Bell said of the clinic, noting that many children may not conform to gender stereotypes and still not be transgender.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/03\/03\/woman-rushed-into-gender-reassignment-teen-suing-nhs\/\">Keira Bell<\/a> sued the\u00a0Tavistock\u00a0and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, alleging that the\u00a0Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) had pressured her into transitioning as a teenager, a decision which she later grew to regret. The High Court found in the high-profile case that children under the age of 16 should not be given puberty blockers without court authorisation, however, the ruling was later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/18\/english-court-appeal-rules-doctors-can-put-children-trans-drugs\/\">overturned<\/a> in September of last year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>More recently, an <a href=\"https:\/\/cass.independent-review.uk\/publications\/interim-report\/\">interim review<\/a> for NHS England by former President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Dr Hilary Cass found that doctors have felt pressured into adopting an unquestioning approach to children seeking gender reassignment.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Cass found that medics within the socialised healthcare system felt \u201cnervous\u201d about offering less invasive treatment to children, resulting in youngsters being put on puberty blockers \u2014 which can have lifelong consequences \u2014 when they could benefit from either waiting or receiving other care.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <em>MoS,\u00a0<\/em>the majority of children referred for gender reassignment treatment in the early 2010s were born as males, however, currently, females now make up most cases.
