In the middle of the workday his <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Sen.-Chuck-Schumer-D-NY-scaled-e1647552723731.jpg\"><i><span>front desk was unstaffed<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span>, and there was nobody in sight. His office did not respond to a request for comment about when its teleworking policy would end.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The office of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D., Nev.), who faces a tough reelection battle in the fall, was closed as well, with a <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Sen.-Catherine-Cortez-Masto-D-NV-scaled.jpg\"><i><span>sign on the door<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span> that says, \u201cCleaning not required.\u201d Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), who chairs the budget committee, has also kept his <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Sen.-Bernie-Sanders-I-VT-scaled.jpg\"><i><span>office closed<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span> and put a sign on his door with text stating the closure was part of \u201can effort to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The Free Beacon added that some offices \u2014 such as those of Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Patty Murray (D-WA) \u2014 have teleworking options while refusing to accept visits from constituents. Meanwhile, the offices of Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ) have signs in their offices that tell visitors to avoid handshakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During his State of the Union <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/03\/01\/remarks-of-president-joe-biden-state-of-the-union-address-as-delivered\/\"><span>address<\/span><\/a><span>, Biden emphasized his administration\u2019s \u201cefforts to vaccinate the nation and combat COVID-19\u201d and declared, based on CDC advisory changes, that \u201cmost Americans in most of the country can now be mask free.\u201d The sudden pivot provoked mockery from many on the Right \u2014 including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/its-a-state-of-the-union-miracle-cruz-mocks-white-house-dropping-mask-requirement-hours-before-bidens-sotu\"><span>observed<\/span><\/a><span> that the rollback of restrictions constituted \u201ca State of the Union miracle!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Indeed, Biden did not emphasize his harsh vaccine mandate policies during his speech. Thanks to a lawsuit from The Daily Wire, the Supreme Court earlier this year rolled back the White House\u2019s unconstitutional private employer vaccine mandate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s a tremendous day for the American people and for the founding idea that this is a limited government of enumerated powers, which exists to protect, not erode, the God-given freedoms of the people,\u201d Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/we-said-do-not-comply-we-won\"><span>wrote<\/span><\/a><span> at the time. \u201cWhat does all of that mean? It means we won. It means we\u2019re still free.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cTotal victory, not just for the millions of Americans who have exercised their right not to be vaccinated, but the millions more who oppose the tyranny of this mandate regardless of their vaccine status,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd utter defeat for the government, which sought to enforce its will on the American people \u2014 literally INTO the American people \u2014 at threat of financial ruin just because they\u2019re convinced they know better than you.
