She also noted that she could never fill the shoes of Justice Stephen Breyer, who would replace if confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Her remarks followed several hours of statements from senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee. On Tuesday, Jackson will face questioning from the 22 members beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hawley-biden-scotus-nominee-has-a-pattern-of-letting-child-porn-offenders-off-the-hook\">had raised concerns<\/a> last week that Jackson\u2019s record demonstrates that she \u201chas a pattern of letting child porn offenders off the hook for their appalling crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His announcement prompted <span>House Republicans to send a letter Monday to the leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee calling for a full investigation of Jackson\u2019s past rulings as a judge. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>That letter, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/21\/house-republicans-ken-buck-letter-investigation-senate-judiciary-committee-supreme-court-ketanji-brown-jackson-sentences-sex-offenders-child-porn\/\">first obtained by the Daily Caller<\/a>, calls on the committee to specifically look into three child pornography cases from when Jackson was vice-chair of the U.S. sentencing commission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hawley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/live-news\/brown-jackson-hearings-03-21-2022\">promised<\/a> during his opening statements that he is not trying to trap Jackson with any \u201cgotcha\u201d questions, emphasizing that \u201cshe deserves a chance\u201d to talk about her record.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome have asked, why did I raise these questions ahead of the hearing?\u201d Hawley said. \u201cWhy not wait until the hearing and spring them on Judge Jackson, as it were? And my answer to that is very simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sen. Marsha Blackburn, the only Republican female member on the committee, expressed concerns in her opening statement about Jackson\u2019s lack of \u201cjudicial philosophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Senate must not blindly confirm a Supreme Court justice to serve as a rubber stamp for a radical progressive agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@MarshaBlackburn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarshaBlackburn\/status\/1505944204341649413?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI was concerned during our conversation earlier this month when you told me that you really didn\u2019t have a judicial philosophy,\u201d Blackburn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/live-news\/brown-jackson-hearings-03-21-2022\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe American people deserve a Supreme Court justice with a documented commitment to the text of the Constitution and the rule of law, not a judicial activist who will attempt to make policy from the bench.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blackburn added: \u201cWithout a judicial philosophy a judge is legally adrift and will be inclined to consider policy rather than law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/121212QFR-Jackson.pdf\">articulated<\/a> that her judicial philosophy is to strictly adhere to the \u201crule of law,\u201d keep an open mind, and decide every issue in a \u201ctransparent, straightforward manner, without bias or any preconceived notion of how the matter is going to turn out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her nomination to the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/leftist-group-prepping-to-pour-millions-into-scotus-nominee-silent-on-board-member-calling-constitution-kind-of-trash\">has been financially propelled<\/a> by Demand Justice, a judicial activism organization whose board member Elie Mystal recently drew backlash for saying the Constitution is \u201ckind of trash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mystal also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/demand-justice-board-member-accuses-josh-hawley-of-trying-to-get-biden-scotus-nominee-killed\">accused<\/a> Hawley last week of trying to get Jackson killed, calling Hawley\u2019s allegations \u201ctrumped up alleged issues about her sentencing for sex offenders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause what Josh Hawley is doing when he tries to do this is he\u2019s trying to get her killed,\u201d he continued. \u201cHe\u2019s trying to get violence done against a Supreme Court nominee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee praised Jackson and highlighted the historic nomination of a black woman to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of my Republican colleagues and public figures have attempted to undermine your qualifications through their pejorative use of the term \u2018affirmative action,\u2019 and they have implied you were solely nominated due to your race and not for other factors,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/live-news\/brown-jackson-hearings-03-21-2022\">said<\/a> Democratic Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono. \u201cThis is incredibly offensive and condescending.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;They have implied you were solely nominated due to your race\u2026Your nomination is not about filling a quota\u2026 It is about time that we have a highly qualified, highly accomplished Black woman serving on the Supreme Court,&#8221; Sen. It\u2019s about time our highest court better reflects the country it serves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Illinois Sen.
