Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) released an internal poll of him leading Republican challenger\u00a0New York state Rep. Colin Schmitt in a hypothetical matchup but only receiving under 50 percent of support.<\/p>\n<p>Maloney showed a 12 point lead against the Republican challenger, with less than half of the vote, 49 percent. Thirty-seven percent said they would back\u00a0Schmitt. However, with\u00a0Maloney getting less than half the vote, 14 percent still said they are\u00a0undecided on the Democrat\u2019s internal poll.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>After the poll\u2019s conductors gave the respondents \u201cbalanced messaging\u201d about the candidates, Maloney was still only able to gain one percent, 50 percent total, compared to\u00a0Schmitt\u2019s percentage gain to 40 percent. There was still ten percent who said they were undecided.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>When the respondents were asked how they felt about\u00a0Maloney, less than half (48 percent) gave him a favorable rating for his job in Congress. In comparison, 31 percent gave him a\u00a0negative rating in the\u00a0Empire State\u2019s newly redistricted Eighteenth Congressional District.<\/p>\n<p>The Maloney intern poll found that only 28 percent knew who\u00a0Schmitt was and gave him a favorability of 15 percent, while only 13 percent gave him\u00a0an unfavorable opinion. Roughly three-quarters of the respondents said they could not rate him because they did not know enough about him.<\/p>\n<p>The poll <a href=\"https:\/\/aboutbgov.com\/15z\">conducted<\/a> by\u00a0Global Strategy Group asked\u00a0500 likely 2022 General Election voters in Empire State\u2019s newly redistricted Eighteenth Congressional District between March 10 and 13.
