The news also had an immediate impact on the wallet of a fan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One unlucky buyer purchased what was supposed to be the football from the last touchdown pass of Brady\u2019s illustrious career, buying the ball for <\/span><span>$518,000. Following Brady\u2019s announcement that he would come out of retirement to pursue an eighth Super Bowl title, the value of the ball plummeted to as little as $20,000, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-10628933\/Tom-Brady-wants-bidder-paid-518K-touchdown-football-Bitcoin-charity.html\">the Daily Mail<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Per the Mail, the purchase was finalized less than 24 hours prior to Brady\u2019s announcement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Brady, showing compassion for the buyer\u2019s plight, took to social media on Friday to try and alleviate the pain he caused.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hey <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FTX_Official?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FTX_Official<\/a> \u2026could we donate a Bitcoin to the charity of this person\u2019s choice?! \ud83d\ude02 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oDX0M3ysX1\">https:\/\/t.co\/oDX0M3ysX1<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iI3kZo5KA6\">pic.twitter.com\/iI3kZo5KA6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Brady (@TomBrady) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomBrady\/status\/1504893399358337028?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Brady is an ambassador for FTX, a centralized cryptocurrency exchange. The company loved the idea, also suggesting that the buyer should have a bitcoin thrown their way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Let&#8217;s make it happen, \u20bfrady.<\/p>\n<p>But what do you say, we give him a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/bitcoin?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#bitcoin<\/a> too? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xrxqrBxBkV\">https:\/\/t.co\/xrxqrBxBkV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FTX (@FTX_Official) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FTX_Official\/status\/1504942420802351114?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>While the offer of a free bitcoin is certainly a nice gesture, its current worth of around $41,000 means that the buyer will still be taking a major bath on his purchase.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Brady\u2019s \u201cfinal\u201d touchdown pass came in the fourth quarter of the NFC Divisional Playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. The Bucs lost, ending their season, and Brady announced his retirement from football a week later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On February 1, Brady officially announced his retirement, saying that he was \u201cnot going to make that competitive commitment anymore.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,\u201d Brady <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-tom-brady-announces-hell-return-to-tampa-bay-for-a-23rd-nfl-season\"><span>posted<\/span><\/a><span> to Instagram. \u201cI have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Forty days later, Brady reversed course, letting the football world know that he\u2019d be returning to the Buccaneers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThese past two months I\u2019ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,\u201d Brady <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-tom-brady-announces-hell-return-to-tampa-bay-for-a-23rd-nfl-season\"><span>posted<\/span><\/a><span> to Twitter. \u201cThat time will come. But it\u2019s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I\u2019m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tampa Bay G<\/span><span>eneral Manager Jason Licht said the organization always felt that there was a \u201crealistic chance\u201d that Brady would unretire.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c[Head coach Bruce Arians] and I have had plenty of conversations with Tom recently that led us to believe there was a realistic chance he would want to come back,\u201d Licht <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/33495804\/tom-brady-says-returning-tampa-bay-buccaneers-qb-next-season\"><span>said<\/span><\/a>,<span> according to ESPN. \u201cTom is the greatest quarterback of all time who is still playing at an elite level.
