raise taxes on oil companies to fund means-tested assistance; or provide a federal rebate whenever gas prices get above $4 per gallon.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yet as The Daily Wire recently reported, more stimulus checks would likely worsen inflation. In fact, much of the inflation we are experiencing in the first place was at first caused by massive government spending in 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/im-sick-of-this-stuff-biden-complains-that-the-american-people-believe-increased-government-spending-causes-inflation\">according<\/a> to the Hoover Institute\u2019s John Cochrane. Even the Associated Press acknowledged that massive government spending will drive up inflation, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meads-happy-st-patricks-day-except-to-joe-biden-the-phony-irishman\">stated<\/a> last week:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cGovernment spending has been a clear factor behind rising consumer prices, though it\u2019s not the only one,\u201d the AP<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-ukraine-biden-covid-health-business-772e1eb45fb5981f3a2b6f2a4b0d201f\"> noted<\/a> on Tuesday. \u201cBiden last year signed a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package known as the American Rescue Plan \u2014 and many economists say that caused inflation to run higher than it otherwise would,\u201d the paper continued.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBut the problem is that Biden pumped more money into the economy than it could handle. Administration officials said before the relief package was passed that the greater risk was do too little to help the economy than to do too much. The implicit risk was inflation, though the tradeoff was faster hiring and stronger growth,\u201d the paper added.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We\u2019re being hit with that inflation today and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/03\/16\/federal-reserve-raises-rates-inflation-rages-00017834\">will be for quite some time<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As for gasoline, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meads-happy-st-patricks-day-except-to-joe-biden-the-phony-irishman\">explained<\/a> by\u00a0Katie Tubb,\u202fsenior policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation\u2019s Roe Institute\u202ffor Economic Policy Studies, Biden has done \u201cworse than nothing\u201d on the matter. He has actively discouraged investment in the industry and enacted policies that drive up cost:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>Rather than relieve regulatory roadblocks to affordable energy\u2014like lifting the Jones Act and the ethanol mandate\u2014President Biden has aggressively deployed regulators across the executive branch to make it more difficult to explore\u202ffor and produce oil, construct\u202fand\u202foperate pipelines, access\u202ffinancing\u202fand private sector\u202finvestment,\u202fand use gasoline in\u202fcars and trucks.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Throughout his presidency, Biden has \u201cused his bully pulpit from day one to vilify the oil industry rather than implement simple and effective policy solutions,\u201d Tubb remarked.<\/p>\n<p>The solution to the energy crisis then is not one which threatens to tax companies or run them out of business for not using their permits, but to enact policies which limit regulation, or deregulate the oil market, to encourage companies to produce more oil in America.<\/p>\n<p>But for now, even Axios admits that Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell \u201cforecasts high inflation through the middle of the year \u2014 so gas prices will remain an issue in midterm campaigns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The views expressed in this piece are the author\u2019s own and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
