James Lankford (R-OK), Steve Daines (R-MT), and 24 other Republican senators are demanding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) stop infringing Americans\u2019\u00a0Second Amendment rights via denial of suppressor applications.<\/p>\n<p>Landford, Daines, and other Republicans specifically called on the ATF to stop targeting law-abiding citizens who make their own suppressors at home.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>A March 18, 2022, press release from Lankford\u2019s office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lankford.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/lankford-daines-and-colleagues-press-atf-for-answers-on-infringement-of-2nd-amendment-rights\">references<\/a> the ATF\u2019s denial of applications for suppressor ownership, and quotes Jason Ouimet, of the National Rifle Association\u2019s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA):\u00a0\u201cThe mass denial of ATF Form 1 applications is a direct infringement against the Second Amendment rights of hundreds \u2013 maybe thousands \u2013 of law-abiding Americans seeking to work within ATF\u2019s own longstanding rules regarding the home manufacture of suppressors.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The senators asked the ATF to explain why they are rejecting the applications:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>These continued assaults of the Second Amendment threaten law-abiding Americans\u2019 rights as they try to follow ATF guidance on making these parts. We request that the ATF provide us answers on why they are rejecting legal applications and denying law abiding citizens access to their Second Amendment right.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The senators added, \u201cThe ATF was not established to interfere with a basic right afforded to every American.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter quotes Gun Owners of America\u2019s (GOA\u2019s) Aiden Johnson:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As if the National Firearms Act wasn\u2019t enough of an infringement, ATF\u2019s denial of American\u2019s [sic] right to manufacture NFA firearms\u2014which is explicitly provided for under federal law\u2014reveals the agency\u2019s true intent is to restrict the Second Amendment rights of the People. GOA is thankful for the Senators demanding accountability from ATF for the illegal denial of gun owners\u2019 Form 1 applications.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The House Second Amendment Caucus is also pressing the ATF regarding the agency\u2019s <em>de facto<\/em> gun registry.<\/p>\n<p>On March 17, 2022, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/17\/watch-house-second-amendment-caucus-demands-passage-of-bill-ending-atf-gun-registry\/\">reported<\/a> that the Second Amendment Caucus is demanding passage of Rep.
