Jim Banks (R-IN).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Rosenberg and Maloney, who lead\u00a0Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime (AVIAC), each told their stories and the sanctuary policies that protected the illegal aliens convicted of killing their sons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is long overdue\u00a0for liberal sanctuary jurisdictions to face the consequences\u00a0for reckless\u00a0sanctuary policies\u00a0that lead to violent crime and\u00a0deaths \u2014 violent\u00a0crimes and\u00a0deaths that were all preventable,\u201d Maloney said in her prepared remarks.<\/p>\n<p>The pair urged House Republicans to throw their support behind Rep. Ted Budd\u2019s (R-NC) \u201cJustice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act\u201d which has been endorsed by former President Trump. The legislation would create a private right for Angel Families to sue sanctuary jurisdictions for compensatory damages in civil court.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sanctuary jurisdictions refusing to waive their immunity as it relates to sanctuary-related civil action would run the risk of having their Community Development Block Grant funding withheld, the legislation dictates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen did harboring criminals and obstructing justice become legal?\u201d Rosenberg said in his prepared remarks at the RSC meeting. \u201cBut so far that is what the courts have decided. That\u2019s why the \u2018Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act\u2019 is so important. (ORLANDO SIERRA\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Budd\u2019s legislation should only be the beginning for a rigorous agenda that focuses on shutting down illegal immigration and its facilitators at non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Rosenberg and Maloney told Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/10\/exclusive-kevin-mccarthy-pledges-as-speaker-he-will-not-consider-amnesty-or-gun-control-legislation\/\">has vowed<\/a> not to consider amnesty for illegal aliens if he becomes Speaker of the House next year. Bringing legislation to the House floor, not just vowing to stop legislation, must be at the forefront of a House Republican majority agenda, Angel Families say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need to hit the ground running with illegal immigration,\u201d Maloney told Breitbart News in a conversation following the RSC meeting. \u201cThey need to have bills ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Currently, Republicans in the House and Senate are hoping to flip both chambers with a wave of GOP wins in the upcoming midterm elections in November.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than making big promises with no legislative gameplan to counter the nation\u2019s mass immigration influx, as former House Speaker Paul Ryan did when Trump and Republicans swept every branch in 2016, Angel Families are hoping a House Republican majority brings a rush of bills to the House floor that allows voters to see where members stand on a multitude of issues from sanctuary jurisdictions to asylum laws to visa overstays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve got to force lawmakers to not only introduce bills but actually take a vote,\u201d Rosenberg told Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The last legislative session saw a number of pieces of legislation introduced by House Republicans to stem illegal immigration but most of which languished in their respective committees, preventing them from ever coming up for a vote.<\/p>\n<p>Banks\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/banks.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/budget_fy22_final.pdf\">RSC budget<\/a> for Fiscal Year 2022 endorsed a series of bills such as Rep. Clay Higgins\u2019 (R-LA) \u201cFinish the Wall Act\u201d to continue all border wall construction projects that were on schedule before President Joe Biden took office. The legislation has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/2729\/cosponsors?r=4&#038;s=1\">86 co-sponsors<\/a>, including high-ranking members of the House Homeland Security Committee.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/4828?s=9&#038;r=1\">similar plan<\/a> introduced by Rep. John Katko (R-NY) was the only immigration-related legislation that McCarthy and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) signed onto last session.<\/p>\n<p>The RSC has also endorsed Rep. Matt Rosendale\u2019s (R-MT) \u201cRemain in Mexico Act\u201d to codify into federal law the Trump-era policy requiring border crossers to stay in Mexico while their asylum claims are adjudicated,\u00a0Rep. Randy Feenstra\u2019s (R-IA) \u201cSarah\u2019s Law\u201d to require federal authorities to detain illegal aliens accused of murder or serious bodily injury, and\u00a0Rep. Warren Davidson\u2019s (R-OH) \u201cFairness in Representation Amendment\u201d that would require the Census Bureau to apportion congressional districts based on American citizens.<\/p>\n<p>A House GOP majority agenda could also include, with overwhelming support from their constituents, reductions to the nation\u2019s historically high legal immigration levels where more than 1.2 million green cards are rewarded to foreign nationals every year and a million more temporary work visas are given out annually adding to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/28\/gop-dhs-hides-spike-illegal-overstay-migration-protect-bbb-amnesty\/\">large visa overstay<\/a> population.<\/p>\n<p>Such a plan would see major support among Republican voters to end the process known as \u201cchain migration\u201d where newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The latest Rasmussen Report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/immigration_index\/crosstabs_rasmussen_reports_immigration_index_february_27_march_3_2022\">survey finds<\/a> that 82 percent of Republicans want a reduction to current legal immigration levels, 71 percent of Republicans support ending chain migration, and 64 percent of Republicans want Congress to require businesses to hire jobless Americans over allocating out more work visas to foreign nationals.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
