The ticket allows players to play 26 consecutive drawings by buying a single ticket for $25. After seeing his friend buy one, Brown purchased a ticket for himself.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>His ticket applied to drawings for 13 weeks, from December 25 \u2013 to February 19.<\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cAfter the first few drawings, I\u2019d check my ticket,\u201d Brown told the Oregon Lottery. \u201cThen I just kind of forgot about it and wasn\u2019t checking.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last month, Brown returned to the Moose Lodge and remembered his ticket, so he brought it to the self-check terminal to scan it. The machine produced a message telling him to \u201cSee Customer Service.\u201d He then had a server check the ticket, and the notification \u201cLarge Lottery Winner\u201d popped up on the terminal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>He and his friends raced to check lottery results on their phones and soon learned he won an $8.9 million jackpot, the release stated. Brown chose to take his winnings as a 30-year annuity and will receive a check for just over $200,000 each year. He has established a trust for the funds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As a reward for selling the winning ticket, the Moose Lodge will receive one percent of the jackpot, or $89,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe last couple of years have been a challenge for us,\u201d Moose Lodge Manager Michael Scott told the Oregon Lottery. \u201cThe influence of receiving such a big chunk of change is huge! We\u2019ll be working with our members to figure out the best way to use the bonus money.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He noted his patrons now have a case of lottery fever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cAnother thing that Wilbur\u2019s win did, was now everyone at the Lodge is buying the \u201926 for $25\u2032 Megabucks tickets!\u201d Scott added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wilbur\u2019s win comes after a pair of jaw-dropping lottery wins in other states late last year. In December, a North Carolina accidentally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2021\/12\/05\/man-accidentally-buys-pair-identical-lottery-tickets-wins-two-jackpots-i-couldnt-believe-it\/\">purchased<\/a> two identical lottery tickets, which resulted in him winning two separate prizes of $25,000 a year for the rest of his life.\u00a0He took the winnings as a lump sum and walked away with $551,851 after taxes.\u00a0In October, a Maryland man <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/local\/2021\/10\/30\/maryland-man-wins-2-million-from-scratch-off-ticket-for-second-time\/\">won<\/a> $2 million on a scratch ticket for the second time in his life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Oregon man recently learned he was an $8.9 million lottery winner after checking a forgotten ticket he purchased on Christmas Eve.
