The criticism of the top infectious disease expert has come to light this week, following the state\u2019s scandal surrounding nursing home deaths.<\/p>\n<p>This all began after an explosive report revealed COVID-19 nursing home deaths in the state were undercounted by as much as half.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We found that:<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\u27a1\ufe0f<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HealthNYGov?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HealthNYGov<\/a>&#8216;s public data undercounted <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> deaths in some nursing homes by as much as 50%<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\u27a1\ufe0fSome nursing homes failed to comply with infection control protocols<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\u27a1\ufe0fFacilities with lower staffing ratings had higher <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> fatality rates<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NY AG James (@NewYorkStateAG) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewYorkStateAG\/status\/1354806549860892676?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, back in July of last year, Fauci touted New York State as an example of combating COVID-19 \u201ccorrectly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have got to do the things that are very clear that we need to do to turn this around, remembering we can do it. We know that when you do it properly, you bring down those cases,\u201d Fauci said. \u201cWe have done it. We have done it in New York. New York got hit worse than any place in the world and they did it correctly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Gov.
