Over the ensuing years, she became one of the long-running show\u2019s high-profile writers, thanks primarily to her claim of having lived through one harrowing medical trauma after another.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Finch claimed to have suffered from bone cancer and said the chemotherapy forced her to have an abortion. Additionally, she maintained that she lost a kidney, also lost part of a leg, and had an unnecessary knee replacement surgery due to a misdiagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>On top of all that, she said a <em>Vampire Diaries<\/em> director sexually and verbally abused her.<\/p>\n<p>These claims won her a ton of personal attention and likely helped her land the job at <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy,<\/em> where she could bring her real-life experiences to a medium hungry for ideas. What\u2019s more, in publications such as <em>Elle<\/em>\u00a0and the <em>Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, she detailed her medical traumas and wrote about how they inspired plotlines on <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Well, according to the <em>Ankler<\/em> \u2014 the outlet that <a href=\"https:\/\/theankler.com\/p\/shocker-disney-investigating-greys?s=r\">broke<\/a> the story, it all came crashing down after Finch said she had to deal with a family emergency and dashed out of the writer\u2019s room. Then, after concerned colleagues called Finch\u2019s spouse, Jennifer Beyer, Beyer allegedly ratted Finch out. Apparently, the two of them are going through a bitter divorce.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Beyer has met with the show\u2019s producers and Disney executives, and Finch has been placed on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/18\/greys-anatomy-writer-put-on-leave-amid-hr-investigation\/\">administrative leave<\/a>\u201d pending the outcome of an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Finch\u2019s attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10627129\/Greys-Anatomy-writer-based-episodes-medical-traumas-accused-lying.html\">told<\/a>\u00a0the media: \u201cMs. Finch is not going to discuss her private health matters. Likewise, she will not speak about her pending divorce from her estranged wife, Jennifer Beyer, or comment on any statements that Ms. Beyer may have made to third parties about Ms. Finch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And that doesn\u2019t sound like a denial to me.<\/p>\n<p>Some of her colleagues are shocked. One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/greys-anatomy-writer-placed-on-administrative-leave-amid-hr-investigation-1235114283\/\">told<\/a> the <em>Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, \u201cYou believe this poor woman was going through this awful thing, and you want to support her.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>But another told the <em>Ankler<\/em> that people were suspicious: \u201cThere was so much craziness in her life, and she was so cryptic and private, and it was always like, what is the story here?\u201d The coworker continued, \u201cIt often felt like a carrot-dangle, but I just thought we were dealing with someone who was wildly insecure but not some sort of mastermind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll probably never know the truth. If Finch is the victim of a disgruntled spouse, this is grossly unfair to her. If Finch did fabricate all or part of her medical history, it sounds like she intends to hide behind her medical records, which is her right. However, if I were falsely accused, I would demand a judge, and one judge only, be allowed to verify my medical records.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming the worst, and let\u2019s be clear that we don\u2019t know the truth, but if someone were to do something like this, fake this kind of trauma, it really is yet one more example of how twisted our society has become with awarding people victim points. If you\u2019re a victim, you suddenly have social cache you\u2019ve not earned. If you\u2019re a victim, you are automatically awarded a professional and moral advantage over people who might be more talented or experienced than you. It\u2019s pure nonsense.<\/p>\n<p>If Finch lied, who lost the opportunity to write for a hit show due to that lie?<\/p>\n<p>But if Finch didn\u2019t lie, and she deserves the benefit of the doubt, my heart breaks for her.
