(AP Photo\/Tony Dejak)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs I\u2019ve often stated in recent weeks, I believe the motive is entirely political, and the strategy is being bankrolled by out-of-state special interests ultimately seeking court-ordered gerrymandering for partisan advantage,\u201d he added, noting that it would be\u00a0logistically impossible to pull off.<\/p>\n<p>LaRose\u2019s letter also instructed the\u00a0local boards of election not to send or alter any ballots due to there being\u00a0pending litigation on the matter.\u00a0DeWine recently signed\u00a0legislation into law that would allow the state to send ballots as late as April 5 \u2014 less than a month before the election \u2014 but the\u00a0<em>Columbus Dispatch\u00a0<\/em>noted that the plan has yet to be approved by\u00a0federal officials.<\/p>\n<p>LaRose\u2019s letter came after the Ohio Supreme Court rejected the\u00a0<a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2022\/03\/16\/supreme-court-rejects-ohio-legislative-maps-full-may-primary-unlikely\/6973505001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">third set<\/a> of legislative maps from the\u00a0Ohio Redistricting Commission, forcing the committee to redraw the maps for the fourth time.<\/p>\n<p>With the\u00a0estimated cost of LaRose having two primaries being around an additional\u00a0$20\u00a0million\u00a0to $25 million for taxpayers, officials will have to decide, excluding any court order, whether or not to\u00a0postpone the election or split it up into two \u2014 one being after the\u00a0maps are approved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Republicans reportedly held a call Thursday to discuss the possibilities but did not make any decision on the primary.
