(Photo by Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 4:00 PM PT \u2013 Tuesday, February 16, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump broke his silence on his impeachment trial acquittal and took aim at the GOP establishment.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released by his Save America PAC on Tuesday, the 45th President said, \u201cthe Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political \u2018leaders\u2019 like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Former Pres. Trump statement taking aim at Minority Leader McConnell:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political &#8216;leaders&#8217; like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PdROQUyUqi\">pic.twitter.com\/PdROQUyUqi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Salvi (@alexsalvinews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alexsalvinews\/status\/1361800566691667971?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump went on to slam the minority leader for losing the Senate in 2020 and not fighting hard for election integrity. He also took shots at McConnell\u2019s family over their substantial Chinese business holdings.<\/p>\n<p>This came after McConnell voted to acquit Donald Trump in the impeachment trial, but said he was responsible for the Capitol Hill breach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFormer President Trump\u2019s actions that preceded the riot were a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty,\u201d McConnell stated. \u201cThere\u2019s no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.
